This Spring Break I had the chance to stay at Madeira Beach with my friends Maci Good and Kylie Quaglio. Madeira is located between St. Petersburg and Indian Shores. I loved staying at Madeira because not many people were crowding the beaches and we were in walking distance of John’s Pass.

If you’ve never been to John’s pass, just imagine a boardwalk with tons of “beachy” shops, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. Another great thing about Madeira is the beach. The sand isn’t shelly like St. Pete and the ocean is fairly clear. Thankfully the weather was amazing the whole week. Every day was sunny and high 70’s or low 80’s. The only day that wasn’t so great was our first because the wind was blowing sand in our hair, on our towels, and sticking to our bodies. Then again who can complain about blowing sand when it could easily be blowing snow.

Down at Florida, I had a relatively the same schedule every day: wake-up around 8:30 a.m., workout, eat breakfast, lay on the beach until 4 ish, get ready, go to dinner/John’s pass, sit in the hottub, and go to bed. A couple days we would do something adventurous like snorkeling, banana boating, or jet skiing but the rest of the schedule remained. Honestly, I thought that week was amazing. I love laying out in the sun and cooling off in the ocean. I remember when I was little I didn’t have the patience to just lay out. I was amazed how long she could lay still under the blazing sun. Now I have a new perspective and love laying out in the sun.

Since Florida is surround by the ocean and sea creatures, I ate seafood every night for dinner. I ate shrimp, mahi mahi, crabs, scallops, etc. and I topped it off with a tropical drink. For some reason a cold, fruity drink tastes better in Florida especially when it’s topped with a mini umbrella. Sometimes Kylie, Maci, and I would make our own concoction with orange juice, sprite, and strawberries. Thinking back on all the exotic drinks make me really miss Florida.

I also miss all the ice cream I ate. We got ice cream about every other day at John’s Pass because obviously vacation calories don’t count. Besides, we walked all throughout the pass which worked off the delicious ice cream. We walked in almost every shop at the pass and convinced ourselves we’d buy something until we looked at the price tag. One thing we did get were henna tattoos. Hennas last for about two weeks so we decided to all get one. I got a turtle and Maci and Kylie got different types of flowers. Sadly, the hennas faded away and it was time to come back to reality.

That part of Florida is absolutely beautiful, and I love the sand there as well. I used to be bored sitting in the sun for more than 5 minutes too, but, like you, I have learned to love sitting in the sun. It is so relaxing. Your vacation sounds wonderful, and I am glad you had a great time!
