This year prom threw many people into a tizzy. Having the dance on the Madam Carroll for the first time in years made people anxious to see if everyone could fit on the boat. Disclaimer the boat was too small. The flood of 2017 had people worried of a prom cancellation. This is silly because, I mean, it’s a boat. The high price of prom once again had people complaining, but we got J. Edwards chocolates and cupcakes with that money. So, yes prom had some struggles and scares but I still had a fun night with my friends.

When I first stepped in the boat, I realized how small it actually was. The dance floor was the size of my living room, which isn’t big. About three-fourths of the boat was filled with tables and chairs and one-fourth was the dance floor. This obstacle made it hard for people to dance easily and not everyone could dance at the same time. Even though I had a fun time, I advise the next year’s juniors to refrain from having prom on the Madam Carroll.

As I said earlier, Mr. Wilson had J. Edwards cater some food, which included cupcakes and chocolates. J. Edwards, in my opinion, has the best chocolates in the world. They had four different flavors of cupcakes: chocolate, white, oreo, and strawberry banana. Sadly, I only had an oreo cupcake but having the delicious, gourmet treats was definitely a plus.

About halfway through prom Mr. Wilson took the microphone to invite the King’s and Queen’s Court up to the stage. The King’s Court included Evan Ohman, Shadd McLochlin, Cole Carden, Cohen Nies, and Alec Eurit. The Queen’s Court included Maddy Karmel, Sophia Magnorfi, Ally Downhour, Olivia Johnson, and me. Both courts received a sash that said King or Queen Court. The 2017 Lewis Cass Prom King was Cohen Nies and I was voted as the Queen. Cohen and I were both  honored to be voted as King and Queen. This year instead of having flower and fig leaf crowns, we received shiny, more official crowns.

I had a wonderful last prom and I owe that to my friends. We always have fun together no matter the obstacles. Everything may not have been perfect but what is. Taking pictures in the photo booth, waiting in the cold, and awkwardly slow dancing with the King’s and Queen’s court are memories that will last forever.

Good article Jael! i agree that the boat was a little small, but it was still a good time.

I agree that it had been a tight squeeze on the boat that night. Yet, despite all the struggles, it was a fun night. Good Article!

Even though the boat was not ideal, I think everyone enjoyed prom. At the end of the day it was a night to remember with your friends and that’s all that matters.

Nice way to explain Prom. It did have its ups and downs but at the end of the night everyone had fun. I agree that the juniors should refrain from having prom there just because it was simply to small and for someone who pays a lot to go to prom it can be disappointing. Im sure they will take that into consideration next year.

Great article. I find it pretty cool that even though the lay out of prom was not up to your expectations you still managed to have a good time with your Friends.

This is a great article that elaborates just how riveting Prom was. Talking about the dance floor as being relevant to your living room really gives no insight to the scale to outsiders that have not seen it prior. When you are listing the Queen’s Court, you should end the list with “I” not “me”. Overall good article.

Thank you for the nice review of this article. However, Jael is correct in using “me” in this sentence. She is using “me” as the direct object of the action verb included.

I did not go to prom, but it is good to hear that it was mostly a success. I’m sure that despite the drawbacks lots of people had an enjoyable time just like you and your friends

i love this article. I totally agree on the fact that you talked about how much room was taken up by chairs and how much room was left to dance. I didn’t get to dance at all because there was no room. I’m still glad to hear that you managed to have fun, as did I.

Even though the dance floor was small, I enjoyed the Madam Carroll more than I would a banquet hall. The boat was a nice change in scenery. I had a lot of fun at prom and cannot wait until next year! Good article!

I didn’t go to prom, but I heard from many people that it was a bit of a squeeze! I’m glad though that you still managed to have a great time at your last prom! I’m sure the future holds amazing things for you! Good luck and great article!
