The best time of the year is summer, a time to have fun and relax. Also, many families travel to different states or countries to go on their “summer vacations.” Since the first day of school of this school year, I have been looking forward to the last day of school.

This summer is going to be one of the busiest and most fun summers of my life. My plans are overflowing with job offers, open gyms, and different yards to mow. I am a type of kid that loves to stay busy and be outside. This makes my summer plans something to look forward to. I already have set dates to start small jobs and have  schedules for summer open gyms. Some of the jobs that I will be doing this summer are tearing down a barn, cleaning manure out of barns, mowing five different yards, and possibly helping my relative, George Collins, make elephant ears.

One of my favorite things to do, play sports. Luckily there are going to be open gyms and open courts for basketball and tennis this summer. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, Coach Burkett, the new basketball coach, is going to have open weights at 6 A.M. Following weights, at approximately 8 A.M, we will then go out to the court and shoot, scrimmage, and run through drills. Also, each Tuesday evening, the Jv and Varsity teams will travel to Westfield to participate in a summer league. Tennis open courts will most likely to be in the afternoon like last year. Usually, the tennis open courts are around 3 p.m and last about one and a half hours. Mr. Hurst usually takes us through drills and at the end of the day, we usually play “King of the Court,” which is just like it sounds. Each time you win a game, you keep on moving up a court until you reach the “King’s court.”

After my open gyms are finished in the afternoon, I am planning to help my neighbor, John Jones, tear down a barn on County Road 800 in Cass county. Also, after i’m finished working with John, I will then go to Kokomo to lift weights at “Body Unlimited.” Having the opportunity to help my neighbor out is something that I have always wanted to do.

I have already predicted this summer is going to be one for the books. I am going to have the opportunity to do everything I love to do and also have some free time to hang out with friends and family. Many kids say they don’t have anything to do over the summer, which will make it boring, but luckily my summer is going to be filled will laughter, joy, and hopefully free time.
