I can remember back in our seventh grade year,

when we walked these halls with so much uncertainty and fear.

Our chubby baby faces and mascara caked eyes

never thought we’d leave here feeling so wise.

I can remember back in our eighth grade year,

when we were no longer scared and things became clear.

We finally toned down our makeup and and grew a little taller,

we thought we were grown ups and thought we were scholars.

I can remember back in our freshman year,

when things weren’t so simple and weren’t how they appeared.

We lusted after seniors because they seemed to have it all,

but little did we know their kingdom was about to fall.

I can remember back in our sophomore year,

when we started to get permits even though we could barely steer.

Everything was perfect and falling into place,

we were finally halfway through our 4 year race.

I can remember back in our junior year,

when all our hard word helped us choose our future careers.

Things became scary and vividly real,

and making such a huge decision so young didn’t seem like a fair deal.

I can remember back in our senior year,

when we had our last everything and our eyes filled with tears.

We said our last goodbyes and packed up our cars,

and now that we’re done the world is finally ours.
Congratulations class of 2017. We did it.

Malley, I can’t express how proud I am to say you’re my sister. I am so excited to see you spread your wings and fly, but you have no clue how much I will miss you. Living in the same room for 11 years and a door away for 7, there’s no one I know better than you, and I know you will do great in Michigan. Although you are the little sister, you have always been the leader. I’m going to miss you, but I’m sure I can get use to the extra closet! 😉
