Getting lost on vacation wasn’t on my agenda. A sixteen-hour drive broken into two days was the way it happened to go. Watching the sites we drove by was really, one of the greatest parts. The scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains, and the big city of Atlanta really added to the fun of the drive. I would have liked to see places such as the Conservation Parks and the Gulf World Marine Park, but I had a lot of fun with my family. The yearly trips we take are apart of our way to get away from our lives at home. Florida has also opened us up to some new traditions that we like to continue every year. Seeing sharks and dead jellyfish are something you’ll never truly find in Indiana. Traveling is my way of connecting with my family and having a good time with them.

In Florida, we have many things to do. Usually opting for fresh local seafood, we try to find the best restaurants. Searching for a good meal isn’t that hard because there is a vast area of options. The choices are endless, and you’ll have a great time trying to find just the right meal to eat. The beach really is one of the best places to go when looking for a vacation. The hot sun always keeps us coming back for more. All of the aquatic animals spread throughout the ocean provide for a tremendous amount of opportunities. Dolphin and snorkel tours are one thing I have yet to accomplish. Just standing in the ocean knee deep is enough to see small schools of fish.

Every year that we’ve gone on vacation, we visit a different city in Florida. We’ve been to ten different cities including Panama City and Clearwater and St. Pete. One of our unique activities as a family is that we try to find the best ice cream in every city. In the beginning of the week, we take a drive around the city and see a few of the spots to try. Most of the time, the best places to get it is the boardwalk. They have a big variety of options and a lot of times it comes along with entertainment. You can see people parasailing in the distance, and people surfing on the large waves. Another one of our traditions is that we like to purchase t-shirts at some of the places we visit around Florida. A lot of them have distinct designs specific to Florida and the artistic designs around.

Coming to Florida every year has really brought me to the realization that anyone can have a fun time with your family anywhere you go. The place that we went last year was Panama City Beach, and although the people were loud when having parties, I don’t regret it. I now know that going on vacation is more about having fun than just going for the experience. I encourage everyone to think about taking a vacation with your family and try to enjoy the amazing experience.
