Apple has been a huge part of technology in a person’s everyday life for about ten years now. Apple released its first and original iPhone in June of 2007. It has been ten years since the first iPhone was released so, apple decided to release a revolutionary model. On November 3, 2017 the iPhone X (pronounced “ten”) was released.

The new iPhone X is revolutionary in many ways compared to previous models. The new model features a premium 5.8 inch display. This is a very large screen compared to the iPhone 6s which had a 4.7 inch display. Every other earlier version was even smaller than that. Apple’s vision has been to create a phone that is all screen and they pretty much accomplish that goal with this phone. The device has an OLED screen that “that rises to the standards of iPhone, with accurate, stunning colors, true blacks, high brightness, and a 1,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio,” according to Apple’s website. The front facing camera has a lot of punch for the small package that it is in. The phone features Face ID, which allows the common user to unlock your phone using just the front camera and the process of looking at your phone, which you should be doing anyway. This feature has raised some reasonable concerns of privacy. Apple has proven that it is a pretty smart program and won’t be confused by pictures of that person or even another person at all. The phone has no home button on the front face. In order to reach the home screen, you must use an upward motion from the bottom of the phone.

The back and body of the phone feature an all new design. The phone has new new vertical camera design on the back. The camera is a 12MP(megapixel), wide angle camera. The camera also can record at up to 60fps(frames per second). The entire phone is in an all glass casing which allows for a very demanded feature, wireless charging. Despite it being all glass, the phone is pretty durable. The glass itself is pretty strong, but it also has surgical-grade stainless steel for the inner core casing. The exterior of the phone makes it water and dust resistant, but like any other phone, that will start to wear away with normal use. Along with this, they DID NOT bring back the headphone jack. This did not come as much of a surprise as the iPhone 7 did not include one, but it is still upsetting. Many people still use auxiliary cables and want to be able to charge their phone while listening to music.

With all of these new upgrades, the cost is the only real downgrade. The iPhone X starts at $999 for the 64GB version and is $1,149 for the 256GB version. This is the most expensive iPhone of all time and Apple is making a lot of money from it. According to ZDNET, it only costs Apple about $370 to manufacture the iPhone X with the material costs.

I had my first experience with one of these devices this past weekend. I wasn’t disappointed. The device really lived up to the hype. I was very impressed with the device’s wireless charging ability, and its screen is one to take notice of. I’m really excited to see what Apple has for us next.

Good, informative article Kaleb. I liked the description of the new features and how you included the difference between the manufacturing cost and the price they sell the phones for. I currently have an iPhone 6 plus, but I plan to either get the 8 plus or the X sometime within the next year.

I got the iPhone X for Christmas, and it is very different from any other iPhone I have. It took awhile to get used to not having a home button. I like how you included information about the internal and external casing. Great article!
