Do you want to better your own health? Well, I think that I’ve found the answer. Two simple things you should do are both good for you. Going to a gym and eating the right foods are two of the most important steps to becoming a healthier person. You can even workout at home with no gym membership needed. These specific steps all contribute to the actual benefit of exercise. The benefits of exercise can vary from reducing your risk of some diseases and even cancers, weight loss, energy, and even improving your mental health and mood.

As men and women get older, they tend to forget that their health deteriorates slowly. Cholesterol rises in most men as they age, and it accumulates on the lining of blood vessels. This “can lead to coronary heart disease, heart attack, and even a stroke,” says WebMD. Along with an increased of heart disease, high blood pressure unfortunately climbs in about every man as he gets older. One of the numerous causes of death in men, colon cancer, can be prevented in some cases. Almost all of the problems, diseases, and health risks can be aided and maybe eliminated with two simple things: a healthier diet and exercise. One of the long-time teachers here at Lewis Cass, Mr. Bauer said “Exercise maintains your fitness and improves your flexibility, your endurance, your strength and your body composition. Hopefully, those things connected to exercise, will help you live longer.”

One great thing about the two is that they have such a wide variety of benefits. The largest benefit is most likely weight loss. So many people each year implement a new exercise regimen with or without a diet to complement it. Although it can be, exercise doesn’t have to be intense two-hour workouts. Exercise can be as simple as walking your dog around the neighborhood or riding your bike with a friend. All of these examples burn a certain amount of calories. The harder the activity, the more calories you burn doing it. The thing about exercise is that you don’t have to be at a gym to be doing it. Taking the stairs at work or doing more housework can improve your benefits in the long run. Consistency is key.

Do you ever feel tired and stressed? Drive to the gym and blow off some steam. From the Mayo Clinic, “Any form of physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you feeling happier and more relaxed.” Feeling better about yourself after a workout can boost your self esteem and confidence towards life. Your daily routine is also affected by exercise. There could be a slight problem if you’re tired after getting groceries. Regular activity will improve your muscular strength and endurance; therefore, it leaves you with just enough energy to tackle the weekly grocery trip. Sleeping is enhanced by exercise, and it’s one of my favorite activities. A grueling workout during the day can boost your energy enough to want to sleep later in the evening.

Comparing varying advantages when talking in terms of exercise and a good lifestyle is rather easy. A lot of men who work out regularly tend to feel good about themselves. This leads to people being more productive and becoming healthier throughout the year. I think this is great for society because more and more people each year are trying out new exercise regimens and diets. This improves people’s’ thinking of themselves and makes them want to go change their own lives as well as others. Exercise can even improve the health of men and women by preventing diseases and allowing the immune system to fight bacterias.
