Dear Role Model,

I never can find the words to say how I feel, but I feel that saying thank you might be a good start. Thank you for helping me grow. Thank you for your advice. Thank you for helping me become the best person I can be. I always look up to you when I feel as if no one stands by my side. Each and every day I look to strive to be more like you in every way possible.

I love our unplanned trips to shop, our random trips to Starbucks, our little “dates” at any restaurant. I know I can count on you to be the shoulder to cry on in times of sorrow and the arms that greet me in times of happiness. I remember coming home one day after school absolutely stressed. Like always, you let me cry on your shoulder as much as I needed. To make me feel better, we went on a trip to Chili’s just to make the stress go away. I appreciate all of the little things you’ve done to make these four years of high school a little less hectic and chaotic. I know small arguments may have caused little problems, but we never let one get in the way of our relationship. Honestly, I think these little “bumps in the road” helped grow our connection.

The support you show me in everything I do from softball to school makes me feel as if I can accomplish anything. I remember the first time I hit a homerun. I ran directly to you with a smile ear to ear. You gave me the biggest hug and said, “I am so proud of you.” At that moment, I realized I did something right. When I received my acceptance to college, I remember you started to sob with me in excitement. Although you had a few tears running down your cheek, I knew that you felt exactly what I felt, happiness. You always tell me that I am bound to do great things as I grow older. You helped me gain faith in myself. You make me feel invincible.

As I grow older and days begin to dwindle down, I begin to appreciate all of the little things you have done to support and hold me to a standard that you always knew I could reach. I know, in a few short months, I will begin to make my way to grow into the woman you have raised me to be. I appreciate the little lessons you’ve taught me: to stand for what I believe, to be independent, to be patient, to be courageous, and, most importantly, to be strong. Without you, I do not know where I would be today.

Thank you for everything, mom. I strive to be a strong, independent woman like you. As I begin to start my life outside of the house, I will always remember what you’ve taught me. Thank you for being my role model. I am grateful for your lessons. I am grateful for your support. I am grateful to be your daughter.

Love always,

Hol

Sis, you’ve always been determined to be the best you can be in all you’ve done, and now you’re reaping the benefits. I couldn’t be more proud of you and the woman you’re becoming. I Love you Mo!
