This year I didn’t have the typical spring break I thought I would. It was much colder than last year, and I actually had things to get done. Most of my friends were soaking up the sun on their cruises or spending their days on the beach in Florida. I was stuck at home working and going to track practice. Even though I didn’t have the most exciting spring break, it was definitely one to remember. Sleeping in until three in the afternoon and watching Hulu all day was totally worth it. Spring break at home wasn’t that bad after all.

I kicked off the first day of spring break getting up at 8 a.m. Usually, I would be okay with this if I were in Florida, but it was pouring in Indiana. I had a doctor’s appointment on the first day. It took much longer than expected, and I was exhausted. So, I did what I always do when I got home. I took a much needed nap. However, this nap lasted 5 hours instead of 15 minutes. I slept the day away and didn’t even eat dinner. What a great way to start spring break.

Over the next few days I tried to get busy by going to work, but I just couldn’t find anything to get excited about. There was nothing for me to do; I had nothing planned. Some of my friends decided to hit me up and ask if I wanted to hangout. Of course I said yes, anything to bring on the fun! Fortunately, I hung out with a lot of friends, mostly playing Fortnite. Finally, I found something to do.

Last week I decided to make the last few days enjoyable. I finally got to spend some of my days alone which gave me a look into the future. I felt as if I were in college kind of. I was at home when I’d usually be in school and I would spend hours in Kokomo just finding things to do. This made me appreciate my break much more. The track meet also allowed me to have fun during my break, but we ended up losing. Check out Boys’ Tracc Takes Close Second for more information on the track team.

This year I learned to appreciate the days even if they are short, or 18 hours long. Whether or not I’m in Florida soaking up the sun or at home watching Netflix in bed, I am happy because I’m not learning about subjunctive moods. I always find that being with friends makes the time go by faster. Speaking of time, we only have a six Monday’s left in school! If that doesn’t get you excited, well, I’m not sure what will.

Great article Caleb! I am glad you found contentment in staying here in Indiana. I know for me it was very hard to come back. Kudos to you! I enjoy how you gave some of your daily activities. Good read!

Normally, my family and I stay at home for spring break as well. Sometimes the break is simply for rest not necessarily going to Florida or another state. I am glad you still had a great break although you may not have gone somewhere warm and not snowing! Great article!
