A man’s best friend, partner in crime, and protection, a dog, helps their partners each and every day get their day started and ended by coming up to the door, wagging its tail and waiting on that first and last impression the dog puts on their owner’s face. Dogs have a huge impact on my life as well many others. They bring energy and joy day in and day out. According to homesteading.com, dogs are usually happier than humans because they live in the moment and don’t worry about the past.

My grandpa, Denny Collins, raises blue tick beagles. Last year he as well as my sister and I went and picked up the father of the current puppies. When we arrived, I saw beagles all over this guy’s backyard. He had dogs in cages lifted from the ground and others running loose on a chain. The guy had many dogs for sale, but only one I saw and knew was the one. He was tied to a chain running around and jumping with joy, wanting pet. I instantly went to him and told my grandpa to look at this dog. He absolutely loved the dog because of the energy and blue ticks the beagle had in him. My grandpa then made the purchase as I loaded him up. When we arrived at my grandpa’s house, I mentioned we should name him Zeke. My sister as well as my grandpa jumped right on it and said, “That’s perfect.”

Zeke then became a little over a year old which was by far old enough to breed. We put him in the kennel with my grandpa’s other female dog, Lily. After a few weeks, I started to notice Lily’s belly getting bigger and bigger each and every day. Lily then gave birth to five little beagle pups. The next thing I know we have puppies running around, joyfully, wrestling each other.

As always, a runt appeared in the litter along with a pup which had a tumor the size of a nickel in its mouth. Sadly, both of the pups didn’t make it, but after all, three pups still stood strong and healthy. The pups are about a month and a half years old and are as fat as a hog. Each day my grandpa separates the pups from the mom and dad for feeding time so they get plenty of food. As soon as they hear my grandpa, they start to whine and jump around in the kennel knowing it’s feeding time.

Two of the three pups are sold, but one is still for sale. If you need a buddy, this would be the perfect opportunity. They are the best dog anyone can have for a family pet. They never try to nip or harm anyone and are full of energy and enthusiasm.

Great story! I like in the first paragraph how you had a source as to why dogs tend to be happier than humans, I think that is very cool actually. Dogs do bring joy (even though i have never had one) but I do love seeing them. Really great article!
