When I first saw you,
I knew you were something special.
I didn’t know why or what made me think that,
But something about you was intriguing.

I let myself get close to you.
I let myself become attached to you.
I let myself fall in love with you.
I let myself become dependent on you.

I told myself it was wrong,
But you told me it was okay.
You told me to trust you,
And I did.

I trusted you with every ounce of my being
And with every ounce of my soul.
I gave you my heart.
I gave you my all.

I knew I should have run away;
I knew I should have listened to them,
But I didn’t.
I still regret that decision to this day.

I fell in love with you,
And I needed you to be there.
You promised me you would be there,
But each day I look around and you are nowhere to be found.
