Our Lady Kings softball team brought home a shutout win over Logansport 6-0 Wednesday night. Even though the Kings are a little out of place right now, due to Holly Widner’s injury, the team is coming together. No matter where someone is put on the field, the Lady Kings have no doubt they will do anything to stop or catch the ball.

A big key to the Logan game was pitching. Sophomore Jacey Grimm shut down the Berries from beginning to end allowing only three hits while striking out seven. Another key thing was hitting. The Kings out-hit the Berries on Logansport’s home field and put runs on the board.

The best play of the game occured after a Logansport player smashed a double to right-center. Two batters after her, a player hit a grounder to Kenzie Silcox. Silcox then threw home and Abrah Humerickhouse tagged the runner out preventing them from scoring.

In the first inning, the Kings scored three runs to begin on top. Kaylin Silcox, a junior, began the game with a triple. She smashed it down to left field. Brooke Nelson, senior, then hit a single bringing Silcox in. Savannah Sturdivant brought in two runs from a single later in the inning.

The second inning only brought in one run. Kaylin Silcox got a single but then was moved to third by Nelson. Kaylin Silcox then scored from Kenzie Silcox, a junior, who hit a pop-up bringing in her sister to make the score 4-0.

During the fourth Kaylin Silcox hit a single with two outs and scored on an error. Sturdivant hit a double and Rachel Carden came in to pinch run. She was brought in by Grimm’s single to make the score 6-0.

The Lady King’s next home game is a double header this weekend against Frontier at 11 am.
