Waking up, I knew the ending of my volleyball career was right around the corner. Since I was ten years old, I have never loved a sport more than volleyball. It has brought me new bonds created with coaches, great memories, and games that I would remember for a lifetime; however, one important thing this sport has brought me was two best friends that were the definition of double trouble.

It all started my junior year when I started to get closer and closer with Madi and Taylor; however, little did I know the start of a great friendship had just begun. Throughout the season, Taylor and I became a lot closer of friends than Madi and me, but Madi still meant the same to me as Taylor. Volleyball became more than a sport to me; it became a passion. Everyday I would wake up and be excited for our games, our practices, or even our bus rides to the opponent’s school. I never in a million years would think my senior year would arrive fast, but it hit me within a blink of an eye.

As practices started, I knew, even as a senior, I would have to compete for my spot on the court and so I did. Now, our first scrimmage is tonight on our home court against Delphi at 6 p.m. Our first few games take place Saturday at Pioneer as we take on the Cass County tournament which begins at 5 p.m. I have never been more ready to go than I am right now. My whole life I have been waiting for the final time I will step onto my home court to play the sport I love and now here it comes. I can already tell this year is going to be filled with laughter, tears, and many bruises from diving on the floor, but I am ready. As I take my last few steps on the court through the year, I couldn’t be more thankful for sharing this bittersweet season with my two best friends. Many people probably never thought a senior and two sophomores would be so close, but we beat the odds. I never realized how special it felt to have two people be there to pick me up when I made a mistake, cheer me on when I did something amazing, or even make jokes at the dumb decisions I decided to make until now.

Madi and Taylor, I know this season isn’t going to be the easiest as we all know this season is my last year; however, I believe in us to push through the difficulties we face along the way. I want you two to know that I will forever cherish the memories we have created throughout this sport and you two will never be replaced down the road as I start to grow up. I want to say thank you, to the both of you, for everything you guys have ever done for me. Thank you for having my back on and off the court. Thank you for making my favorite sport become even more special to me. Thank you for giving me so many memories I will cherish forever. Out of everything, thank you, in advance, for making my senior year the best year yet. I love you guys as if you were my little sisters, and I am going to miss you like crazy when I graduate; however, let’s not focus on that right now. Let’s focus on this season and how this year is ours. So here’s to you guys for already making my last rodeo at Lewis Cass one to remember.
