God gives us challenges in life that we don’t understand and we don’t know how we’ll get through them, but he puts them there for a reason. Four years ago, God put my best friend into my life even though I didn’t know that he would mean as much as he does now. We may not have always been close or even talked at all during all four of those years, but that’s only because everything happens for a reason. About a year ago, that best friend of mine turned into the love of my life. Before we get too far into this and you tell me I’m too young to know who the love of my life is, just keep in mind love comes in all shapes and sizes at any age or time in life.

A year ago I didn’t realize God putting this person into my life would lead to the different changes it has. I would have never expected to have to cry at 10:30 at night in my driveway telling my best friend goodbye before he left the next morning for prep school two hours away. I would have never expected to love someone as much as I do. I would have never expected to miss someone as much as I do right now. I would have never expected to experience a lot of the things I’ve experienced in the past year, let alone the past 48 hours.

Over the past year, I’ve learned what it’s like to be in love with someone. However, I wouldn’t have learned what it’s like without my best friend, Kace Christian Kitchel. Kace has taught me what it’s like to be treated with true respect as a woman and what it’s like to be loved for who I am on the inside, not just the outside. And as our official one year of being together approaches, the time for Kace to leave for his first year of college also approaches. As Kace starts packing to leave for school, I begin to write this.

Kace, I want to start off by saying thank you for putting up with me for an entire year plus some, which is difficult thanks to my attitude and how emotional I am. You have absolutely no idea how thankful I am to have you in my life. I can proudly and gladly say God truly blessed me immensely me when placing you into my life. You have been there for me through everything, from the highs to the lows, from my running for Teen Miss to my car accident, and you never once loved or treated me any less than I needed in those moments. You’re about to take on a big, exciting experience this year while at Don Bosco, and I’m so excited for you this year and I’ll be cheering you on as your biggest fan every step of the way. You’ll be off on your own experiencing the adult world, which you already hate, while doing something you love, playing basketball. This year is going to be much different for us, due to us being two hours away rather than the twelve minute drive we’re used to. I know this goes against what I’ve been saying while crying, but distance doesn’t have anything against us. We’ll get through this just as we’ve gotten through everything else that has been put in our way. I’m very uncertain what this next year has in store for us, but as long as we trust in God as we have the past year of our relationship, it all will work out in our favor. I promise to come visit as often as possible, and I’ll be looking forward to your trips home. I love you with all my heart Kace Christian Kitchel. Forever and Always.

Jo Jo this article is touching. You prove the point that god works in strange ways. God has failed things in the past to make your future fit how it’s suppose to. It might of been tough to handle stuff in the past, but your words in this article seem like you are very happy. Keep writing Josie I love reading your interesting stories.
