Uncle Drew  is a great movie and families should watch because it tells a great life story. The movie is rated at PG-13 that is a good thing because parents  don’t have to worry about violence and excessive language. The movie is mostly going to be summed up here as I saw some information off ESPN.

Foot Locker salesman Dax (Lil Rel Howery) has  aspirations for coaching a tournament-winning streetball team; they  are ruined when his longtime rival, Mookie (Nick Kroll), takes his best player away from his team, and approaches Dax’s team he also knows that he doesn’t have a chance at winning the $100,000 check. With Dax’s whole life savings spent on Harlem’s Rucker Classic registration fee, he goes on a desperate search for another team … and finds 70 year old somethings.

Uncle Drew (NBA All Star Kyrie Irving),is a street-ball legend who famously played in the same tournament 50 years earlier. Uncle Drew agrees to play for Dax as long as he can recruit his own roster. The duo ends up road-tripping to convince Drew’s (very) old teammates to join the crew: Preacher (Chris Webber), wheelchair-bound Boots (Nate Robinson), Big Fella (Shaquille O’Neal), and legally blind Lights (Reggie Miller). The team ends up reconnecting both on and off the court and healing old wounds.

The movie is classified as sports/comedy.  IMDB rated the movie a 5.7 out of 10 stars. It is worth seeing. The scene I like the most is where they let Lights (MIller) drive and Lights is blind. He sits down in the driver seat when they go to get Shaquille O’Neal. Lights  puts his seatbelt on and the crew goes to get in the van. At this point they have Betty Lou who is Lisa Leslie, a famous WNBA star, coming after them and they have to just take off and they start driving and Lights is driving in reverse and he is about to hit this truck and Dax says turn like you’re coming off a screen to shoot in your spot.

Another part I like is where they get out of the car when they are done sleeping, and then when they wake up they go to the gas station because they ran out of gas. They played a Houston high school girls’ basketball team that has won state three times in a row. They lost all three games to them terribly and Dax gambled for gas money and he had to pay their coach. Another part I like is towards the end. Uncle Drew (Kyrie Irving) tells Dax “You miss a 100 shots you don’t take.” That means you will always fail if you don’t try to succeeded. There are a lot of great points in this movie, and it tells a great life story. Families talk about the messages in Uncle Drew.

The main role model I like the most is Uncle Drew because he never gives up. What I mean by never giving up is the scene where they are in the Rucker Tournament. Uncle Drew tells Mookie when they are down by 20 at half they say you need to give up and he says no. Uncle Drew tells a story about couple years ago in the movie they were down by ten with two minutes left and came back to win.
