Most people won’t remember this show at all. After coming out in 2005, the tv show brought all kinds of drama and crime to the table. From 2005 to 2009, the show ran continuously. Prison Break would later return for a fifth season in early 2017. The series centers around two brothers, Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows; he has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and Michael has devised an elaborate plan to break him out of prison and prove his innocence. The series has multiple cliffhangers and many setbacks. If you like a show that continually leaves you on the edge of your seat, then this is the show to watch.

Season One starts out with an allegation. Lincoln Burrows has been accused of murdering the brother of the Vice President of The United States and is put on death row. He spends his time in Fox River State Penitentiary, along with his brother Michael, who, got incarcerated solely on the belief that his brother is innocent. On the other hand, a secret organization dubbed The Company hinders those trying to free Lincoln on the outside. The last few episodes of this season set the stage for the rest of the show. After Michael’s plan advances, other members of their escape crew begin to separate.

My favorite season, the second one, follows the Fox River inmates on the run just hours after their escape. The eight criminals make their way across the country while local authorities and the FBI are hot on their tails. Several close encounters later, each member of the crew except for one finds his way to the same location. In a secluded community somewhere in Utah, a house with 5 million dollars is found. The crew members work together to coerce the owner to let them dig inside her garage. Succeeding, they begin to destroy the floor of her garage and find the money buried beneath. One of the inmates, Theodore Bagwell, a.k.a T-Bag, swindles away the money by making a decoy bag. At the same time in another area, The Company is doing everything they can to make sure they don’t survive. They must also hope that the conspiracy that placed Lincoln in jail doesn’t emerge.  Alexander Mahone, a member of the FBI, is one of the main characters added in season two who also tries his best to stop Michael and Lincoln. He is one of the smartest agents and about as smart as Michael.

By the end of season two, Michael and a few others are in a new prison. Michael must formulate another escape plan in this prison as well. The lives of his lover, Sara, and his nephew, LJ, are at stake. He must also get another prisoner out along with his crew. In Season 4, Michael, Lincoln, and several others are recruited by Homeland Security agent Don Self to finally stop The Company. This season ends on a good note. It was initially thought to only be four seasons long, but Fox later renewed it for another season. Eight years later came the new season.

I stumbled upon this show back in 2013 with a friend. Prison Break was on and we decided to tune in for a while. I think the show is very likable because of its interesting plot and optimism for each character. This comes to life again in the fifth season, that came out last year. Many new characters are introduced into the series. Fox network renewed the show for another season back in January. Jump on to Hulu and give it a watch.
