It’s That Time of Year

It's That Time of Year

October just started and Fall has finally arrived. I love this time of year when my instagram feed is full of orange, yellow, brown, and red and everyone is cozying up with sweaters and scarves. Fall has campfires with gooey toasted s’mores, apple and cinnamon candles, pumpkin foods, and movie days with warm, fuzzy blankets. I absolutely love fall. The chilly weather brings nostalgia and joy to my family, and I’m sure to many others as well. Plu, this season starts the beginning of many other spirit-filled holidays.

Fall, in my opinion, has a very unique and dominant feel. I’m positive most people can agree with what I’m saying. Fall is obviously the beginning of that cozy, warm feeling. The air is laced with the scent of apple and pumpkin pie, sweet maple, and mahogany.  The nippy autumn weather calls for inside days with movies, card games, and long talks, or the perfect weather for a trip to an apple orchard, through a corn maze, a haunted house, a hay ride, or just simply taking a hike to see the beautiful colors of fall. As halloween comes closer, carving pumpkins, making costumes, eating candy and caramel apples, and drinking hot apple cider brings sweet nostalgia and joy to many.
Ever since I was a little girl, I couldn’t wait for fall because that would mean that my mom would take my brother and I down the street to the little apple orchard and its store. We both loved it and it felt so fallish. My favorite thing to get from the store is glazed donuts and an apple cider slushie. I knew that once the little store opened, it was definitely fall!

Fashion is definitely a big part of fall. Burgundy, orange, mustard yellow, and tans and browns occupy the many racks at clothes stores. After the scorching summer, the weather cools down allowing sweaters and cardigans to come back in style, hence “sweater weather.” Most girls walking the halls are wearing warm colors either on sweater dresses, cardigans, sweaters, or a cute top paired with denim. Of course, this all comes together with a pair of stylish boots and a cute plaid scarf.

October is my favorite month of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but also fall is my favorite season. I believe it is for many people. The crisp weather brings a sense of spirit. Everyone knows that once October is here, Halloween will be coming, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, and finally New Years. I know that seems a long ways away, but I really believe that October begins “The Holidays.” However, I slowly enjoy every second of the last few months of 2018, especially fall. October has its own feeling building up to the spooky, fun night, Halloween. Then, in November it is a warmer feeling anticipating all the good food, family memories, and thankfulness coming at the end of the month. Once Thanksgiving finally arrives, the day is full of laughter, thanks, sentimental moments, and lots and lots and lots of delicious foods of everything imaginable- pies, mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken and noodles, turkey, ham, cranberries, macaroni and cheese, and etc. The very next day on Black Friday, people hit the stores searching for the best Christmas gift sales.

Earlier, I assumed that most people would agree with me that fall is their favorite season and it has a very unique and dominant feel to it. I decided that it would be interesting to hear people opinions about it, so I took a poll. I asked twenty students what their favorite season was, thirteen out of the twenty chose fall. I asked if they thought fal had its own feeling and nineteen out of twenty said yes.  I think it is safe to say that my assumptions were correct.

Fall is a beautiful season, in which everyone should take advantage of before it gets too cold. The wonderful weather makes it easy to do outdoors activities without shivering or sweating. It is a nostalgic time of year bringing everyone fall, cozy vibes. Happy Fall!!
