Recently, my brother told me about this new show on Netflix. He explained that it was interesting from the start, so I decided to give it a shot and started to watch the show. My brother loves to watch horror movies and shows, so I was definitely expecting something really scary. While I do think the show contains scary scenes, I don’t think the entire show is “incredibly creepy” like some reviews say but actually more of a mysterious thriller. The new show I decided to watch is called The Haunting of Hill House.

For the Crain family, growing up wasn’t easy. Their childhood home was haunted, causing them to experience many creepy situations. The mom and dad, Olivia and Hugh Crain, have five children: Steven, Shirley, Theodora, Luke, and Nell. Each child experiences something unusual at some point as a child, and it really messes with their thoughts and way of living later on in life like their jobs, homes, and choices.

Steven Crain is the oldest child of the family. Most of the children had a specific experience that haunted them all the way into their adulthood, but Steven chose a different path in his life. He became an author and wrote in the horror genre. Instead of being frightened by every little unusual experience, he uses these to write stories. He even tries to find a natural reason for every situation that can be considered supernatural to others.

Shirley is the second oldest child. Shirley ends up taking over a funeral home with her husband. She doesn’t experience many scary situations like the other children, but she does experience some. However, she doesn’t let these experiences take over her life and instead chooses to move on with her life and remain strong for everyone else.

Theodora, the middle child, mostly keeps to herself. She chooses to live her life freely but still carries precautions that her mom gave her. She doesn’t let herself open up to many people and instead keeps all of her feelings bottled up inside. Theodora definitely still feels a burden from all of the haunting experiences of her childhood home.

The twins of the family, Luke and Nell, suffered the most from the hauntings of their old home. Nell is constantly haunted by a creature that only she has seen since she was a child. She experiences a lot of loss and heartbreak in her life, and it takes a toll on her emotional and mental health. Luke’s experiences cause him to make a lot of bad decisions in his life. He tries to get help many times, but it’s hard for him to keep the motivation.

The Crain family experienced many hardships in their lives. They try to move on with their lives, but something always brings them back to the horrors they experienced as children. The show jumps from past to present to show why each person lives the way they do. It can get confusing at some times, but it’s very interesting and attention-grabbing. As all the siblings live their separate lives, one thing they can all agree on is that you can never escape the haunting of Hill House.

This review is amazing! I have heard so many things about this new TV series, and personally, I didn’t know if I should watch it or not because I couldn’t tell if it was going to be scary or not so bad. As soon as I finished reading this review, I immediately wanted to watch this show. Good writing skills! I guess that means it’s time for me to binge-watch this series!
