Sports can keep us in shape and help us with life lessons as well. Lessons like learning to be responsible, getting out of your comfort zone, or just to get better at something you love to do. A fun thing to do during sports are making friends. Many different types of sports exist in many different states and countries. Most sports are hard and other sports are not as challenging. Every sport is difficult in its own way but there is one exceptional sport that is the hardest of them all in everyone’s opinion (I’m assuming.) Studies have shown that the difficulties of swim are not the same as other sports. Not only do the studies show but athletes from different sports agree.

The girls’ swim season started the day after fall break and it was a love-hate relationship for sure. People were excited to see their friends again after school everyday but also did not want to go through the grueling expectations of swim…and Karmel. Coach Karmel warned the newbies and returning swimmers that the first two weeks will be hard; but to be great, a person must persevere and push through. She had said this three weeks ago. Karmel had said, “I am so proud of you all and what you have done so far. Swimming isn’t easy but you guys are doing great,” after one of our swim practices. Karmel has been very understanding with everyone’s schedules and has been patient while teaching us new things we must use and know to improve.

Swim season has been very difficult so far and we do not expect it to get any easier but only harder. We have morning practices every Tuesday and Thursday and then dry land plus swimming after school on those days as well. Whereas we only swim for two and a half hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Then on Saturdays we do dry land for an hour and a half and swim for the other two and half at eight in the morning! The girls are getting along and have been pushing each other ever since day one. Even though it is a tough sport and we sometimes do not want to attend most times, we try to make it as fun as possible.

The boys’ team just started this week and have been easing their way into the sport just as we girls did our first week. Just like any other sport, stress levels are high because of the amount of time taken for practices and meets as well as homework. The boys team’s size is a tad bit smaller than the girls team so therefore they have two lanes most of the time whereas the girls are allowed to use four. Other times, depending on what we do, the girls and boys split the pool lanes half and half. Divers also started at the same time with us and they do less swimming but have to do more Shelly workouts. We call the workouts Shelly Crozier gives us “Shelly workouts” because she creates them and the workouts are always so tough to do.

Overall, swimming has been going by pretty swell for the time-being. Even if it is just the beginning, the girls and the guys have been doing an amazing job and I believe that we can do great this season. In all honesty, many of us truly just do not want to dive in and start practice. The water is freezing and the laps we do feels like forever. Usually, practices are insanely hard and we constantly watch the clock until it is time to head to the showers. What sport do you think is the hardest? Do you think you could do swim?

Bella, I think you captured swim season perfectly. It is a very hard sport that not everyone could do. I love your description of practice! Great article!

Great Story Bella. I loved how you describe what you guys do on every other day. I believe tennis is the hardest sport because you need a lot of skill and great stamina. Keep up the amazing writing.

I liked how you described what the swim team does for every practice. I also liked how you explained that you all have been pushing each other every day and trying to make it as fun as possible. Great article!

This story is pretty neat because i didn’t know that statistically swimming is one of the hardest sports their is and even other athletes admit to that.

Great article, Bella! I think you described the everyday difficulties of swim very well. I believe swim is exceptionally hard and not many people would be able to do it. I definitely agree that is really hard to do those first few laps because the pool is freezing and the fact that you have to do it all over again is just awful. Lol! Great article!

I like your article! I like how you were honest that swim season is rough but also really exciting and I am glad you are excited and that you get to spend a season with your friends making memories. Pushing each other is good and forms a family-like team and that is how you guys become more successful too! Great article.
