On February 5, 2019, the Lewis Cass FFA hosted the 36th annual volleyball tournament. With seven teams participating the tournament lasted for three hours. Everyone was full of excitement, aggravation, and even some heartbreak. With single elimination it was all or nothing come game time. As the first four teams started the night, the players could feel the intensity kick in.

The first four teams to play were called Faculty, Church Campers, Cracker Barrel, and the bulls. Team Church Campers faced team Faculty in the first round. It was an intense game that went into match point until the FFA advisors ran out of room on their papers. With a challenge to start out the night each team played their hearts out. Sadly the Church Campers walked away losing the battle to the tough faculty members. They did regain their dignity in a match against team Cracker Barrel after they lost by a few points against the Bruisers.

After the Church Campers and Cracker Barrel gathered their things, it was on to round two. Team Faculty faced team bruisers for a final round before the championship game. Who ever won this battle would play the winner of the Bulls verse Pork Pistols. Everyone was screaming and yelling expressing how much they wanted this trophy. With excitement filling the air, everyone was excited to see who was going to end up in the championship. Once both games were over, the Pork Pistols and the Bruisers started the final battle for the trophy.

It was an intense and close game between all the teams, but this was a fun night for everyone. As Mr. Appleton says, “We use the volleyball tournament as a fun way to kick off our upcoming FFA week.” Everyone becomes great friends between games after pounding the ball at each with everything they have in them. For some players they are going for the “hard core ACL tear,” according to the current district five Vice President. All in All the Bruisers came out winners of the 36th annual Lewis Cass FFA volleyball tournament. The dues paid by each member went to help build back up the FFA Greenhouse after everything was killed last Wednesday due to freezing temperatures.
