“Cousins are people that are ready-made friends. You have laughs with them and remember good times from a young age. You have fights with them, but you always know you love each other.”- Courtney Cox

All through my years of growing up, I have had friends that have come and gone; however, I have a group of people in my life that have never left my side. These people were different in the aspect that we were connected not only by the friendship we have created but by blood. I never really say how thankful I am for them, but now it’s my time to shine. With that being said, this one is for my cousins.

When I was little, I remember my cousins and I used to always get so excited for dinner at granny’s house or family gatherings because that meant we all were able to see each other. We all cherished the time we spent together because we never knew the next time we’d see each other. My cousins and I always seemed as if we weren’t close because we didn’t hang out all day everyday; however, we always knew that the closest thing we had to best friends was each other. During the younger years of our lives, we used to argue all the time or aggravate each other until granny yelled at us; however, as the years went along, my cousins turned into my best friends, and now we are inseparable.

Don’t get me wrong, I have my group of friends that I wouldn’t trade for the world, but nothing compares to the bond I share with my cousins. There will be days I go to church with Maci and Makenna. There will be days I go shopping with Taylor. There will be days I go hang out and play videogames with Andrew, Tyson, and Easton; however, Dalton is four hours away so it can be tough trying to see him, but we all miss him and love him endlessly. Most of all, there will be days we all spend time together and cherish the memories we have made or are making. The times I spend with them can be hectic sometimes because our family is similar to a rollercoaster because no one ever knows what direction the family gatherings will go; however, I wouldn’t want any other crazy family.

Normally, I don’t tell my cousins how much I love and appreciate them, but I figured it’s time for something to be said so here it goes. Having a group of best friends like you guys is something I never thought I would experience, but man am I blessed to have you guys as family. I can’t thank you guys enough for constantly make me laugh until my stomach hurt. I can’t thank you guys enough for being there for me when the road gets rough. I can’t thank you guys enough for never letting me fall when it would become hard to fly. I cant thank you enough for making memories with me that I’ll never forget. Most of all, I can’t thank you enough for being my people. Life without you guys would definitely be way different. I wouldn’t know how to act or what to even do if I didn’t have you guys.

People always say ‘family over everyone,’ and I can truly say I have never related to a quote more than this one. When it comes to you guys, I would take a bullet for any one of you. I know we don’t see each other as much as we want or as we used to when we were young, but no matter what I want you guys to know that I will always be here for you. Here soon, I will be going off to college and soon so will Easton and then Tyson. Taylor will be getting married, and Makenna, Maci, and Dalt will be already enjoying the real word which means we all will be separated; however, even though I may not be ready to say see you later, I know that we all will be okay and will never lose touch. It’s crazy to think how far we all have come, and I want you all to know I am so proud of each of you for all your accomplishments. I love you guys and if you ever need anything, just know you always have your weird but caring cousin here for you.
