This weekend the Lewis Cass baseball team traveled south to participate in the Lebanon tournament.

The Kings first game started at 1:30 p.m. where they faced Frontier. Going into the game, the Kings didn’t know much about the team because they haven’t played them in the last few years, but that didn’t matter. The Kings dominated clear throughout defeating Frontier 11-1 in six innings. Senior Dixon Collins pitched all six and got the win, striking out six on one unearned run and four hits. Senior Kobe Hicks dominated at the plate, having three hits and three RBI’s while junior Caden Zeck also had three hits in the Kings’ victory. Junior Joey Humphrey also had three hits while bringing in four RBI’s.

After the victory, they stuck around for the championship game starting at 6:30 p.m.

The final game featured the Lewis Cass Kings and the host Lebanon Tigers. The Kings knew going into the game the Tigers had a few good pitchers with their ace and starting shortstop already committed to Cincinnati University. Austin Holt took the mound and gave the Kings an outstanding chance for the victory, going all seven innings for the Kings. The bats were hot for the Kings with both junior Easton Good and senior Reece Rodabaugh hitting home runs. Caden Zeck, Austin Holt, and Kobe Hicks added two hits a piece.

This should be a huge turning point in the season for the Kings. They are now 6-3 on the season.

Their next action is Tuesday on the road versus University and Thursday at Cass versus Southwood. They will travel to Speedway for a double header Saturday and return to conference action next week with the Western Panthers.
