The Lewis Cass Marching Kings have been working hard to improve every part of the show while also adding new aspects. The show “The New Colossus” has been coming together well to represent the true meaning of the show: acceptance. The show is based on the poem “The New Colossus” which represents the intent of the Statue of Liberty to represent America’s acceptance to anyone and everyone no matter where the person comes from. The band has performed at six competitions up until this point. As the season nears the end, we have been working every day to bring the show to life in every way that we can.

This week the band has been preparing for semi-state on Saturday, which is a very important competition of the season. Our performance this weekend will determine if we advance to state competition held at Lucas Oil Stadium next weekend. Twenty bands will perform at semi-state, and only ten of those bands will advance to state. Semi-State will be held at Franklin Community High School. The contest starts at 1:00 pm, our band performs at 4:15 pm, and awards will be held later at 7:15 pm. If you have a free Saturday, the band would love to have your support this weekend!
