The Lewis Cass Marching Kings advanced past semi-state, so the band will be performing at Lucas Oil Stadium this Saturday for state competition. The band will be performing at 6:25 p.m., and awards for Class D will take place at 7:10 pm. Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for students; these tickets can be purchased at the school office until Friday at 12:00 pm. They can also be purchased at the lower east side box office on Capitol Street before entering the stadium. If anyone would like to participate in a send off for the band, meet at the school on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The band has been working hard all season leading up to this point. The BOA competition allowed the band to experience performing this show at Lucas Oil, so the students are excited to come back and compete for the state championship. The show is really coming together to create something amazing, and I’m excited to see the final product of all the hard work the band has exhibited this season.

After being asked how she feels going into state, Drum Major Savannah Sturdivant explained, “The butterflies are starting already, but I’m going to thrive off of them.”

Senior Brooks Hensley, a trumpet player, added, ”I feel like we have a good shot if we perform full out.”

Anyone who attends will get to watch the band members perform at a great level and see all the hard work pay off in the end; people who attend can also enjoy a day in Indy with friends. If you don’t have plans this Saturday, come support the Marching Kings!
