The Events Between WWI and WWII

In class we read and watched the Diary of Anne Frank, which is one of the most well known primary sources of information for World War II. After reading some of us in class had some questions, leading to each person getting a random topic about WWII, some of the topics had to deal with what happened during WWII and its causes. But there’s also the topic of what happened between WWI and WWII, which leads to what this article is about.

In between WWI and WWII people wanted to have peace and not war, or at least have less damage happen during war. After all around this time inventions and machinery had become stronger and caused bigger damage. As a result the United Kingdom, United States, and Russian Federation came up with the Geneva prohibition after WWI, making it so that poison gas and bacteriological weapons were prohibited due to how strong they are.

Speaking of WWI during this time trench warfare was used more often, countries were fighting for more territory, food and fuel were limited, and countries were going to war left and right due to defense agreements being made. Which an example would be that country A and B are friends, but country A is attacked and goes to was with country C, this means that Country B now has to go to war with Country C as well. This is why Europe was so war ridden and led to World War I, after all so many countries were dragged into it due to these agreements and it became a huge destructive mess. But of course this war eventually ended, and when it did many countries like the United States were put in a depression. Though Germany took the biggest hit due to them taking the blame for the war, giving up much of their navy and army, as well as occupied territories.

As a result of losing the war and much of their power, the Germans really wanted to get their glory and power back. Which is why Hitler was able to get in a position with power so easily, after all Hitler made it seem like through his speeches that he could get power, glory, and beat the others country if he was in charge. He even put his own vision about how Germany should look and who it is to blame, by putting the Jews, minorities, other countries, and traitors as the villains and the reason for their failure. Leading to strict rules and mistreatment of these so called villains and eventually putting them in concentration camps.

Though every one in Europe had to deal with limited food and fuel, plus other everyday items, and to make it worse prices were pushed through the roof making them super expensive and bought less frequently making survival even harder for the minorities mainly but everyone else as well. But due to most people all being happy about Hitler basically becoming their leader most were blinded to how bad the situation really was. One example of how you could tell everyone liked Hitler and their daily lives being full of propaganda was the Berlin summer 1936 Olympics, because this Olympics was the first televised Hitler made sure that he could show off how great he made his country and people. Having lots of propaganda and showing off his men, people, how he works, speeches, and country. Though he was supposed to have some restrictions such as having to have some Jews on his Olympic team, which he sorta did by having one who was Helene Mayer a fencer. Though the rest of the promises that Hitler made were not followed through which people were thinking was going to happen and why the Olympics were almost cancelled. Making it so that although people mainly were watching the actual Olympics they were also seeing Hitler’s ideals. In the end Hitler’s team did win but he was still mad about other countries winning gold medals, so with this and even more times that
