In our 8th grade English class taught by Mrs. Birnell we watched The Diary of Anne Frank, and we each picked topics. There were topics such as this one, which is Hitler’s rise to power, his youth, and political beliefs. Hitler rose to power on January 30th, 1933, at this time he was forty-three years old. This happened all because Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany, he took it to his head and thought it was a way he could get back at the Jews. Hitler was an anti semitism which means he was against Jews. There were many studies on why he was this way, some of the conclusions were that he was jealous, or something happened to him in his early childhood because he had Jewish history.
They thought that something his parents or somebody in his family did wasn’t all that they made it out to be. There was also a study that took place by Jay Y. Gonen, a former professor who taught psychology at the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Rochester Medical Center, Hitler came to the conclusion that Hitler was most likely this because of fear or terror and did not want to accept his loss to the Jews. He said that Hitler might have taken this opportunity as a way to possibly defeat the Jews and stab them in the back. Before Hitler had made his youth, the kids were learning to obey orders and to basically worship him, this is one of their prayers they had to say in school, “Adolf Hitler, you are our great führer. Thy name makes the enemy tremble. Thy Third Reich comes, thy will be law upon earth. Let us hear daily thy voice and order us by thy leadership, for we will obey to the end and even with our lives. We praise thee! Heil Hitler”
Hitler’s youth at first had only recruited boys, and then the boys had to recruit other boys. Altogether then these boys would gang up on Jews or gypsies and beat them as a game because they thought that was what was normal. Hitler had later on started recruiting girls for his youth too. These children in Hitler’s youth consisted of kids starting at the age of five, these children were forced to work the crematorium, kill Jews, gypsies, Jehovah witnesses, disabled people, and homosexualists, they had to follow any orders given to them no matter how inhumane, and if they didn’t they were either killed, starved or thrown in with the Jews.
Hitler was eventually arrested for his wrong doings, but was then let out a few months later, which then continued to do the same thing except made it into different age groups. The age groups were separated into different groups with different names such as the German Young Folk consisted of boys ten to fourteen years old, The Hitler Youth was now boys from fifteen to eighteen, and same for the girls, The League of Young Girls consisted of girls from ages ten to fourteen, and The League of German Girls had girls ranging from fifteen to eighteen. They were still forced to do the same things but because they were in different age groups it was ok.
