Several people donate their time and money towards a charitable organization every year; however, very few put their all into working for their charities. It can be difficult for an actor or actress to put their all into a charity while also acting for a movie or TV show causing very few to be able to. It becomes increasingly more difficult for young actors or actresses to be able to devote themselves to their career and education while also donating their time, energy, and money to a charity. Millie Bobby Brown, most known for her role in Stranger Things as Eleven, is one of the youngest and most influential actresses of our time, while she also works alongside charitable organizations to spread kindness and wellbeing through philanthropy.

For example, Millie is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. UNICEF is the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund and the organization works in over 190 countries to defend children’s rights, fulfill their potentials, and to save their lives. Millie’s position at UNICEF allows her to “help raise awareness of children’s rights and issues affecting youth, such as lack of education, safe places to play and learn, and the impact of violence, bullying, and poverty.” She is the youngest celebrity to have become a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador. Most recently, the actress helped assemble Early Childhood Development kits at UNICEF’s global supply headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Furthermore, Millie has founded her makeup line, Florence by Mills, and a portion of the profits from sales are donated towards the Olivia Hope Foundation. The Olivia Hope Foundation works towards finding a cure to end childhood cancers. In addition to donating a part of profits, the line is created with the goal of defining beauty on one’s terms. All of the makeup in the line is made vegan and is 100% cruelty-free. Millie’s website states: “Clean means saying no to parabens, sulfates, dyes, animal testing, and animal by-products and saying yes to vitamins, antioxidants, and botanicals.”

As well as donating a part of the sales profits from her makeup line, Millie helped raise $40,000 for the Olivia Hope Foundation. The foundation was created to honor Olivia Hope’s wish of children afflicted with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) and other childhood cancers would not have to suffer the way she did. Millie was friends with Olivia before her death, causing the foundation to be very important to her. Millie is an honorary board member of the foundation. In early May of 2019, a limited number of tickets for a private lunch with Millie were auctioned off for $5,000 each during the first charity event for the Olivia Hope Foundation. The actress met with people who won tickets to the lunch at a secluded, private residence. Olivia’s mother and president of the Olivia Hope Foundation, Michelle Lorusso, said “Millie was gracious and engaging, and she sat with the winners, talked with them, ate lunch and played games. It was a very special day for our foundation and for all the people involved.”

In conclusion, Millie Bobby Brown is working with several different foundations to help make the world a better place while simultaneously balancing her career as an actress and her education. She’s very involved in the fight for children’s rights and wellbeing while also helping to support finding a cure to end childhood cancers.
