Who is the NBA’s best player?

Who is the NBA’s best player? This is a question no NBA fan can answer correctly. Everybody has who they think is the best player in the NBA. Today I will explain why seven different NBA players could be crowned the best right now.

Giannis Antetokoumnpo is a small forward/power forward for the Milwaukee Bucks. He is a 6’11 freak of nature and is known as the name “Greek Freak”. He has a 40 inch vertical and has gotten much stronger since his rookie year. He is one of the fastest and strongest players in the NBA. Giannas is the most efficient player in the paint in the whole NBA. He is a near seven footer who can handle the ball, pass and occasionally shoot very well. Over the past four years he has averaged about 26 points, ten and a half rebounds, five assists, and over a block and a steal. He has led the Bucks to the best record in the East in the last two years.

Next is Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Although he has missed the majority of this season, he is pretty much undoubtedly the best shooter the world has ever seen. In 2015-2016 he made the world go absolutely crazy when he averaged 30.1 points per game, shot over 45 percent from three, over 50 percent from the field, and over 90 percent from the free throw line. That season the Warriors went 73-9 (best season record ever) and was the first ever unanimous MVP. I think people have forgotten how dominant he was. In his career he shoots over 50 percent on shots 28 feet or father. That is absolutely ridiculous and no one is even close to this measure. Stephen Curry was the main reason the NBA changed to the small ball dynamic where threes are shot up more than ever.

This may be a surprise pick to some, but there is a case for the 21 year old Luka Doncic as the best NBA player in 2020. He was named EuroLeague MVP just after his 18th birthday. The EuroLeague is known by most to be the second best league in the world besides the NBA. He won the EuroLeague title and Final Four MVP that very season. Now, in just his second NBA season he is averaging near 29 points, near 9 assists, and more than 9 rebounds. Luka Doncic had arguably the second best rookie season ever (number one Wilt Chamberlain’s season in 1959-1960) where he averaged 21 points, six assists, and eight rebounds. He had more triple doubles before his 21st birthday than Magic Johnson and LeBron James did combined who both joined the league at 19 years each.

Kawhi Leonard is another player who is at the top of the NBA. He is a small forward for the Los Angeles Clippers and excels on both sides of the floor. In my opinion he is easily the best defensive player and a top five or ten offensive player while averaging over 24 points in the last four seasons where he wasn’t hurt the majority of the year. This year he has the chance to win a finals for three different teams. If so, he will likely win finals MVP and be the first player to ever win finals MVP for three seperate teams. When Kawhi guarded Giannis Antetokoumnpo in the Eastern Conference finals last year Giannas shot ust 33 percent from the field even though he is a whole four inches taller than Kawhi. He was practically unstoppable in the games that mattered most in the playoffs. He averaged over 30 points in the playoffs last year and hit one of the most clutch shots ever against the 76ers in Game 7. He does not have social media and is constantly working. I would not be surprised if he comes out of this pandemic a whole step better than everyone else in the world.

James Harden has an incredible gift to score the ball whenever he wants. He also has achieved some crazy advanced stats. After adding up all eight year he has been on the Rockets he has averaged a staggering 29.6 points per game. Over the past two years he has averaged 35.4 points per game. He has been more efficient than many believe as he has shot a combined 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from three in those eight years. He has the second most games consecutively averaging over 50 points at 5(second to Wilt Chamberlain with 116). James Harden was also the first player ever to record a 60 point triple double. He is almost without a doubt the best offensive player, but his defense can be underrated. In the clutch time of a game when he really locks in on the defensive end, he can make some great stops which lead to wins.

Kevin Durant is a lanky 6’10 small forward who can score the ball and defend. He is injured right now so is not considered to be the best NBA player by many because of this. However, before his injury he was considered by many to be the best player in the world. After winning two championships with the Warriors many labeled him as the best NBA player. A lot of NBA players have said Kevin Durant is the hardest player to guard along with Stephen Curry and James Harden. Durant has averaged over 20 points per game in each of his 12 years in the league. Excluding his rookie year he has averaged over 25 points per game every single season. He is also shooting 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from three for his career. Not only is he one of the best scorers ever he is a very efficient scorer as well.

Finally, is the King himself LeBron James. LeBron has been the most consistent player in NBA history. He has made eight finals and always leads the team well no matter who is on it. LeBron’s teams are always at the top of the standings and this year the Lakers are first in the west. He can shoot, pass, rebound, defend, he can really do it all. He is 35 years old and is still dominating while averaging over 25 points, ten assists, and around eight rebounds this season. For his career he averages over 27 points, seven and a half rebounds, and seven and a half assists. He performs very well in the postseason every year and this year shouldn’t be any different. He has scored the most postseason points of anyone in NBA history.

Now that you have heard the cases for seven different NBA players to be the best in 2020, who do you think is the best? Personally, I think Kawhi Leonard is the best player as he just won his second finals(first with the Raptors) in his first and only season with the Raptors. He performs in the clutch, can score, and is the best defender in the NBA.
