With graduation coming up and since I am getting closer to becoming an adult, I am starting to really look at all the little things my parents have done for me. I am going to be moving out in a few short years, and all the little things they do for me currently will be a very noticeable difference in the future. Starting my car for me early on cold days, buying my favorite foods from the store, or even just killing a spider for me because I swear I am still a five year old who won’t go near spiders. With that being said, I am going to do an open letter to each of my parents who have been with me through it all.
Dear dad, where do I even start? I get told all the time that I am definitely your girl, and the older I get the more I realize that. Thank you for always being there when I need somebody to play softball with, rant about mom, and giving me advice when I want to quit at everything. Your advice will always stick with me, and is always in the back of my head. Because of you I know that nothing is handed to me for free, nothing in life comes easy, and sometimes I have to start over and go back to the bottom. I have always thought of you as my super hero, because I have just always had that mindset that there is nothing that my dad can’t do. I know I can always come to you about anything, and the funny thing is, I don’t ever remember you being really mad at me. Like the time I drove into your truck and broke your headlights, backed into your car and dented it, started a fire in the house and almost burnt it down…point is…I have given you a lot of reasons to be mad, but all I remember is you either laughing it off, or being super understanding. Whenever I get into a bad situation, you are the first person I think to call. You are always going to hold a special place in my heart that nobody else can take, and I am forever going to need you and be your little girl. I want to make you proud of the person I become, and I am glad to say that you have been my role model. I love you dad.
Dear mom, we are the same person right? At least that is what dad always tells us. I think you’re the person I have argued with the most, but that is just because we are both stubborn. You are strong willed and I definitely got that from you, and when you put something in your head, you don’t stop until you get it done. I have always looked up to you mom, and always told myself I strive to be like the mom you are someday. I swear I can’t go one day without talking to you, which I prove everyday because I have to be texting you throughout the day about everything that happens. I see how strong you are and also how caring your heart is. Honestly, being told we are the exact same person is a compliment to me, because who wouldn’t want to be like you? I love telling you absolutely everything and I love how we talk about absolutely everything. I love being your girl, and we are for sure two peas in a pod. Also, I can’t wait to tell you about my high school experiences someday when I can’t get grounded. Haha, don’t worry. They aren’t bad. I am always going to need you in my life, and you’re going to be the person I call someday in the middle of the night when I just need some girl advice. I love the bond we have together, and most importantly I love you momma. I am always going to need you, and no matter where I go in life, I am always going to come back home. Thank you for everything you have done for me, dealing with my morning attitude, and all the things you do for me that I don’t even know about.
