Kings’ Courier staff finishes an outstanding year

KingsCast adds broadcast journalism skills

Approximately 952 articles (476,000 words) were published. The staff added the KingsCast, a daily broadcast, to its daily journalism responsibilities. All of their hard work is greatly appreciated.The number of students that finished the year (34) is also a record for the staff. Fifteen of the students on the staff were recognized as Latin Honors recipients, awarded to the top students in the 2018 graduating class. Hayden Vest, class valedictorian, Holly Widner, salutatorian, Drew Cornell, No. 3, McKayla Ramsey, No. 4, Morgan Miller, No. 5,, Olivia Salyers, N0. 6, Mari Karmel, No. 7, Brady Johnson, No. 8, Lexi Jackson, No. 9,  and Westin Miller, No. 10, were on the staff.

Other highlights of the year includes a new record for number of page views, 7,568 in one week as well as the number of visitors in one week, 5,388. Four the fourth consecutive year, the a Courier student was selected as the Pharos-Tribune top high school journalist. This year Holly Widner, a four-year staff member, three-year editor, and Kokomo Herald columnist, received this prestigious honor.
