Fear and distress plagued the town of Hawkins, Indiana, after young Will Byers suddenly disappeared. The town never fully recovers even after the truth comes to surface about what really happened to Will. The disappearance of Will is only the beginning of frightening events that are brought to Hawkins; however, each following event is connected to the original disappearance. This exciting and intense story is told through the popular Netflix series Stranger Things.

This show is set in the early 80s and focuses mainly on four best friends and their families. The beginning of the show shows Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas taking part in one of their favorite games: Dungeons & Dragons. After the boys finished the game, they all went home on their bikes; however, Will never made it home. Everyone in the town helped search for Will and hoped for his return, but nobody could have predicted what really happened to him. The situation that Will experienced was not only very frightening but also a supernatural experience. Later seasons explore how this frightening experience still affects and plays a role in everyone’s lives.

Three seasons are available on Netflix at the moment. Season four has not been officially renewed by Netflix yet, but the intent to create a fourth season of the show has been confirmed by a producer of the show. In an interview, director and producer Shawn Levy included that the crew has a “good sense of stuff that happens in season four” and a good possibility exists for a fifth season to be created after that. I’m very excited to see what new, exciting scenes are created and brought to life in the future seasons of the show.

I really enjoy watching Stranger Things because every season brings a new, exciting element and adds it into the already existing situations. For example, a supernatural creature that exists in the first season grows much larger and becomes more dangerous in the later seasons. I also like that the show is set in the 80s because I think the decorations and outfits in the show are very fitting to the style of that decade. The personalities of the characters also provides a good addition of humor to each episode. Stranger Things is rated TV-14 because of frightening scenes, violence, and swearing. I definitely recommend this show to anyone looking for a new series to start.
