Hurricane Dorian
Hurricane Dorian was a category five hurricane with wind speeds of up to 183 mph. Hurricane Dorian began on Thursday, August 22 2019 and ended Sunday, September 8th. Hurricane Dorian affected four areas, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Greenland, and Iceland. When the hurricane first hit the Bahamas, five people passed away. After the hurricane dissipated, more than fifty people perished. They put rescue, relief, and recovery operations underway as soon as Dorian had passed, even then, hundreds of people are still missing. The survivors that had been found were taken to Florida and Nassau. Hurricane Dorian was one of the longest lasting hurricanes on record. IMERG, Integrated multi-satellite retrievals for GPM, showed the largest rainfall amounts to more than thirty-six inches over the Bahamas and off the coast of northeastern Florida. The damage from the hurricane was over seven billion dollars. At least 70,000 people were left homeless after the natural disaster was over.
