Now that fall is over, and winter is starting, most people will want to start doing winter activities. Most people associate winter with it being Christmas time. During Christmas we like to do activities such as play in the snow, build and decorate gingerbread houses, and have Christmas movie marathons. One of the most known and loved Christmas movies is “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” This movie was first a book written by Dr. Suess. It came out as a movie later on December 18, 1996. This movie has been remade many times, but the most popular film stars Jim Carry as The Grinch.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” starts out in Whoville, where the grinch lives in a cave with his dog Max. The Grinch is a grouchy, solitary creature with a heart two sizes too small. He goes down into Whoville wearing a disguise. He ends up in the post office after causing chaos in the town, where he meets six-year-old Cindy Lou Who. She falls into the mail shaft after getting scared by the grinch, and he has to save her before she gets smashed. After he does this Cindy decides to try to prove that the grinch is actually a nice but misunderstood person. She goes to the two sisters who adopted The Grinch to talk about what he was like as a kid. They tell her about how he got bullied by his classmates. Then they told her why he hated Christmas and decided to run away and live in the cave. 

Cindy decided to nominate The Grinch as the town’s holiday cheermeister. She goes to his cave to invite him to the celebration. The Grinch goes and plays games with the townspeople. He starts to have fun at this celebration, until the mayor presents him with a razor as a gift. This causes him to go on a rampage. He shaves the mayor’s head with the gift he received, burns down the Christmas tree, and trashes all the Christmas decorations.  He decides he’s going to ruin Christmas for everyone else. He wants to crush their spirit by stealing all of their presents, decorations and food while they are asleep. He disguises himself as Santa Claus and his pet dog Max as a reindeer, then descends into Whoville on his sleigh. After stealing all the Christmas presents he goes back to Mount Crumpit to destroy it all by pushing the sack off the side. Before the Grinch can push the sack off the top of Mount Crumpit, he hears the Whos singing and realizes that he has failed to prevent Christmas from happening. This causes his heart to grow three sizes bigger. He takes all the presents back to Whoville, and they all celebrate Christmas together.

I think that The Grinch is a great Christmas movie to watch for any age. I would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it, or if someone just needs a good christmas movie to rewatch. I would rate this movie a four out of five stars.
