Would You Prefer The English or Western Saddle?

Do you prefer the English saddle or the Western saddle? Personally, I prefer Western. Western is a style of saddle that ranchers, farmers, and most regular trail riders use, while the English saddle is used for more prestigious things like dressage, show jumping, eventing, ect. So as you can see, Western is used for more dirty jobs while English is used for more pretty ones

I prefer Western over English because Western is more comfortable, safe, and more comfortable for the horse. The Western saddle has a tall stick in the front called a horn. The horn is to help keep your balance and keep you from falling off if your horse took off. Also, the stirrups on the Western saddle are much longer than the English saddle.

The English saddle is much smaller and more petite than the Western saddle. This is because when using the English saddle, you are doing more fancy activities. The saddle needs to be light so the horse and rider can stay light on their feet and hooves. If you are like me and don’t have a lot of balance and coordination, then English saddles will definitely not be your thing.

So in conclusion, Western saddles are just all around better if you are more of the rancher type. They’re more comfortable and durable than English saddles. They are also better for the horse which should always come first. English saddles, well, they’re just too small and you need too much coordination and balance for me.
