Listen, Spider-Man is one of, if not the, most popular superhero in the world. Almost everybody knows him, little kids know him, adults know him, elderly people know him. As such, it stands within reason the Web-Slinger has had many movies over the years, with possibly the most popular and critically acclaimed of which being Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse in December 2018. The movie was a huge success, getting a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and ending its theatrical run with a box office of $384.3 million dollars according to Boxofficemojo.com. While that may not be as impressive as other Spider-Man movies earnings, it cannot be understated the impact this film had on fans, with its portrayal of some underrated characters such as Miles Morales and Spider-Man Noir, and its handling of more classic characters, such as Peter Parker and Kingpin, as well as its gorgeous comic accurate style of animation. With all of this positive feedback it was no shock it was announced the film would be getting a sequel, to be released in November 2022, however due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the movie was delayed to an unknown date. During this time, very little news of the movie was given to us, with only a slight teaser of Miles Morales being chased, and the reveal the movie would heavily focus on Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O’Hara. However, it’s possible that the biggest reveal of this teaser would be that the movie had been named Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Part 1, with it later being confirmed that part 1 would keep the name Across the Spider-Verse while part 2 would be called Beyond the Spider-Verse.
After much anticipation, the movie was finally released on June 2, 2023, to huge success. In just the opening weekend, the film made $109 million dollars, according to Boxofficemojo.com, already making back the film’s budget, and doing far better than the first film’s opening weekend of $35 million dollars. Fans praised the movie non-stop, once more appreciating the portrayal of the movie’s lesser known characters like Spider-Man 2099 and The Spot. With all of that said though, what do I think?
Being a massive Spider-Man fan myself, as well as comics in general, and adoring the first movie, I was very, very excited to see this movie, and upon my first viewing of the movie at an early showing with my dad, I left the theater thinking it was the best movie I had ever seen in my life. However, upon a repeat viewing of the film with some friends, I found myself not as fond of it as I was before. It is still an incredible movie, no doubt, but some things about the movie just rub me the wrong way that I can not really describe. Despite this opinion, of some random fan, nothing can understate the impact this film had on the public and its fans. I am excited to see where this trilogy will end in 2024!

This article was very well written and I like how you told you the amount of money both of the films made. I also like that you included Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse because that movie is what started it all.

I really like how you put the name of the link in this. I also like how he put how much money the movie made.
