Was your Fall break amazing? Did you travel anywhere, or did you stay around the big city of Walton? Over my fall break, I had the opportunity to travel to the Big Windy City (aka) Chicago. My trip to CHI-Town started on the Tuesday of fall break. The trip was kind of a last-minute trip from my mom, but I was excited, because I had never actually been in the middle of Chicago, and was thrilled to see the different landmarks, and I was most interested in the food and shopping of the city. Our drive to the Big Windy City was not very long and a pretty easy and effortless drive. When we arrived on Tuesday, the first thing we did was unpack our bags and settle into our hotel room. We stayed in the heart of the city at the Kinzie Hotel. Once we got all settled into the hotel and our energy was restored; we set out to explore Chicago. For our first stop, we got dinner at Harry Caray’s. Harry Caray’s is famous in Chicago because the owner of the restaurant was a famous sports commentator and was also well known for the wide glasses that he wore. My mom enjoyed Harry Caray’s as she said “The environment here is awesome and the food is great as well”
The next morning, we woke up early and walked the magnificent mile. The magnificent mile is a mile long of Chicago’s premier commercial district, lined with different shops and restaurants. Some of the shops include Nike which was my brother’s favorite store, and he spent almost all day wanting to go to it then we finally did and he said “This is the best part of the day so far”, Adidas, Under Armor, and then various designer stores as well. After a long day of shopping and eating at various restaurants, one of my favorite out of the day being the Chicago deep-dish pizza place we headed back to the hotel. We arrived back at the hotel and the clerk told us they were having a pumpkin carving contest, so my mom and I went outside and joined the contest. After we concluded our carving, it was time to find out who won. I will just let you know now, it was not me as I would finish in dead last place.
My favorite part of my trip was when we went to the Second City Comedy Club. When I first found out we were going to the comedy club, I was a little skeptical because I had never been to a comedy club before, and I did not know what to expect. The Second City Comedy School has had some of the funniest people such as Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Chris Farley, and Stephen Colbert. The show was hilarious, and by the end of the show, my stomach physically hurt from laughing so much. The club had some of the best food I have had while I was in Chicago, and it was also very interactive with its audience. I would totally recommend the Second City Comedy Club to anyone who has ever visited Chicago as It was by far the best event we did while on our trip. That was my fall break, and I hope it was fun and eventful as well.
