Everyone has heard of the absolutely legendary game called Fortnite. Fortnite has been around for six years. According to Micheal B Sauter of 24/7 Wall Street, “ In 2017- 2019 Fortnite had the most sales of the game by a longshot.”
Fortnite first blew up in 2017 and quickly became very popular. From the amazing skins to landing spots, and small loot pools, it had people playing the game for hours every day. Fortnite kept on changing the map and adding many different weapons to the game. This caused many streamers such as Ninja to not like the game because of the new items in the game. Statistics show in a website called Active Player that in 2019, Fortnite had a small downfall and many people stopped playing the game. Many people came back to Fortnite in 2020 for a short period of time when COVID hit but this rise did not last for long. In 2021 and 2022, the Epic Games changed the whole map and all the weapons which caused many people and streamers to flee from the game.
In October of 2023, Fortnite announced that they would be returning the old map everyone once loved but just for a little bit of time. The nostalgia of the game made everyone very excited to play on the old map they grew up playing on. In an article on Radio Times, it says, “Season six will be from Thursday, November 9 to November 16, Seasons seven and eight, will be from November 16 to the 23, then November 23 season nine and ten will arrive. With the arrival of these OG seasons, many players and streamers are coming back to the game. In an article on the Fortnite website, says, “Fortnite will be returning the OG loot pool along with the map”. All of the old POIs everybody used to love such as Tilted Towers, Loot Lake, Salty Springs, and many more will be coming back. They are also bringing a lot of the old skins to the item shop. On November 3, Fortnite came out with season five and the game hit a record-breaking amount of numbers with over 7 million people on the game. Many old streamers such as Ninja, Mongraal, Dr Lupo, and many more. Everybody came back to the game and it was hard for the Epic Games server to hold this many people. People had as long as 45 minutes of queue time to get into the game.
Many people are trying to get their old squad back that they used to play with back in the day. With the amount of people coming back to the game, this should hopefully help Epic Games realize that they are better off with having the old map back. Epic Games has lots of decisions to make about how they are going to continue the game. People love the old map and Epic should keep it this way to keep the player count up. Everyone is excited to see how Fortnite will continue its success.
