During the spring, everyone is patiently waiting for spring break. Whether you are going on a trip or not, you get two weeks off from school! Most families like to go on special trips as a nice getaway from everything. Spring break is the best way to debrief and prepare yourself as the school year starts to come to an end.
During spring break, there are tons of places you can go and many things you can do with your time. You should use your spring break as a time to relax and have fun. This year spring break is from March 16 to April 1. One of the most popular places people in our area go is Florida. Florida is known to be very warm in the spring and there is always something to do! Several kids from Lewis Cass are going to different cities in Florida. When hearing where people are going, you hear cities like Daytona, Destin, Panama City, and Orlando. Freshman Lexi Gotshall says, “I’m going to Destin Florida, which is known for its beautiful water. It is not super warm there, but it is also very tourist-friendly and it is super popular. They have this really good donut shop that’s called parlor donuts and it is my favorite place to go. We also always go on a dolphin cruise and the dolphins always come super close to the boat. I’m really excited!”
Senior Dixie Wagoner says, “During the first week, I’m going to IUSB to get a college shirt, and then I’m going to Niles, Michigan to get a new pickleball paddle. Afterward, I’m going to Grand Rapids, Michigan to see my boyfriend and get my prom dress. The second week I have tennis so I will be back home by then.
Going on spring break, there is usually always something fun to do. If you go somewhere warm, you can always go to the beach and come back to school with a great tan. If you are going somewhere less warm, like Tennessee, there are amusement parks, museums, and zoos you can go visit. If you are not going to a certain destination on spring break, there are still many things to do. You can find places close to go shopping, you can spend days with friends who are not leaving, you can go to trampoline parks, and most importantly, you can take as many naps as you want!
If you do not know where you want to go for spring break, planning ahead of time is always a good option. Everyone wants to get the best condos and hotels, and if you do not reserve where you want, it might fill up pretty quickly. Spring break is one of the best, but busiest times of the year, especially in Florida. Every time I have visited Florida, everywhere is so busy and the beach is always packed. I even ran into friends from school in Florida!
My family likes to get things together very early in the year. We also like to look at different activities we can do together and places we can go. Then, when we go, we are not clueless about where we are at and what we want to do! If you are going somewhere for spring break, remember to make the best of your memories and remember to be thankful for the opportunities that you have.
When you go on spring break this year, I hope it is fun and full of memories you will have for a lifetime. As the school year comes to an end, we all deserve a break. Remember, make the best of your spring break whether you are going somewhere or not.
