There is nothing cooler to a child than the idea of going to Wrestlemania! Since 1985, Wrestlemania has been an iconic staple of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) brand, with the first one drawing in 19,121 viewers, according to Fightful.com, making it the highest pay-per-view event at the time, with many tuning in to watch the match between Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and Randy Orndorff, Rody Piper.
Ever since then, Wrestlemania has been a yearly staple, with the matches leading up to the event getting more and more extravagant every year bringing out more lights, flames, loud noises, and anything to get the heart pumping with excitement. There have been some moments fans absolutely loved, such as Wrestlemania 26, where Shawn Michaels (Heartbreak Kid) went up against The Undertaker in a legendary match that marked the retirement of the Heartbreak Kid, and some moments that fans did not love, such as the winning of, at the time, a very hated Roman Reigns winning the championship, but despite all the bad and rough years, fans keep tuning in to watch Wrestlemania. At the end of the day, they just want to see people beat each other up, and it seems that they will be in for a good time, as this year on April 6, and 7, marks the 40th Wrestlemania event. WWE is pushing for this to be a big one.
The past year has been an exciting one to be a fan of wrestling, as not only did it see some exciting matches, but it featured the return of some wrestlers who had not been in the ring in quite some time, with the big one being CM Punk, a wrestler who had been fired from the federation in 2011 after he went on live and started to break down everything wrong with the WWE behind the scenes. So, to see him return was an exciting and unexpected outcome. Besides him, some other huge names will be competing in the ring, including, but not limited to, Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Rhea Ripley, AJ Styles, and Rey Mysterio, who are all huge in their own right, and are sure to bring exciting matches, but the real star feature that the federation has been pushing hard has been the big fight between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
At Wrestlemania 39, (last year’s Wrestlemania) Roman Reigns defeated Rhodes and took the title of World Champ from him, but now this year, after winning the Royal Rumble in January 2024, Rhodes is here to take his belt back, so there has been a huge push for those to tune in and see if Roman will Reign supreme, or if Rhodes will become top dog once more. It is sure to be an exciting match and, according to Cbssports.com, is set to take place on April 7 at 7 pm EST, and will be streaming on Peacock for those who want to tune in to the event. I think it will be very exciting.
