Prom is something every little girl dreamed of when they imagined high school. Whether it was dreaming of a gown that made them feel like a princess or imagining their Prince Charming picking them up, prom is an event that has been hyped up to little girls for years. For many girls, they are getting ready to attend prom for the first time.
As seniors, Nia Maroney, Mirikle Prince, and Maci Garland are excited for their last prom. They are all excited to get ready with friends in order to start their day. When Nia was asked what she was doing to prepare for prom the day of, she said, “The day of prom I am getting my hair done and then getting ready with all of my friends at Maryn’s house.” Many girls choose to get their hair or makeup done in order to look exactly how they have always dreamed of. Mirikle is also getting her hair done, “For prom this year, I plan on getting my hair done and doing my makeup in a timely fashion. Last year, I was in a time crunch and needed to rush, and I do not plan on rushing this year.” However, doing your own hair and makeup like Maci can save time and money, “On the day of prom, I am going to get Starbucks then head to my friend’s house to get ready.” When thinking about prom, getting ready with friends the day of is only one small part to consider.
Shopping for prom dresses is arguably one of the most exciting things about getting ready for prom. Personally, getting ready the day of and shopping for my prom dress are the best things about prom for me. Most girls get their dresses mid to late March so they do not have to worry about finding a dress in their size a few weeks before prom. Mirikle got her dress in mid-March, “I got my dress towards the middle of March. I like to go a little early just so there are more options. This year, I got my dress from Diggz Dresses in Lafayette.” There are many local boutiques and dress shops where people can go to find their perfect dress. Maci found her dress at a local shop, “I got my dress March 30, and I got it at Lillian’s Boutique in Peru.” Lillian’s Boutique is a great option if you do not want to travel far to find your perfect dress. Nia also got her dress at a local shop even though she got her dress a little later, “I got my dress last week, and I got my dress at Byles in Kokomo.” There are plenty of other options to get your dress, but I recommend at least looking a little earlier so you get an idea of what you want and what size you need.
Lewis Cass is hosting their prom on May 4, at The Venue so be sure to purchase tickets for $40 when they come out. I hope your first prom lives up to your expectations you set when you were a little girl. And, if you are a senior going to your last prom, I hope it is the best, most enjoyable prom you have gone to! Happy prom season!
