Rap is one of the most popular genres of music, with many of the most popular musicians in the world right now being rappers. Travis Scott, Tyler The Creator, Kanye West, Cardi B, Kid Cudi, just to name a few, but the “Big Three” of rap has been widely considered to be J. Cole, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. J. Cole himself has acknowledged this, calling the trio the most famous hip-hop artist in October 2023, according to BBC.com, but in March 2024, Kendrick responded to this claim in his song “Like That,” claiming that he was on top and that there was no “Big Three.
Cole responded negatively to this and released a song called “7 Minute Drill” in which he criticizes Kendrick’s 2015 album “To Pimp A Butterfly”, however, just a few days after he released this song, he publicly apologized for making the song and would remove it from all platforms, though reuploads still exist. Drake, on the other hand, did not respond in any public manner, and when asked, he simply responded that he was the one on top. About a month later, an early version of Drake’s song “Push Ups” would be leaked to the public, which served as a response to “Like That” which made fun of people for siding with Kendrick and mocked Kendrick for his small size. A devastating blow to Kendrick’s ego, I am sure. On that exact same day, Drake also released a song called “Taylor Made Freestyle” which is a song about Taylor Swift, however, what really grabbed people’s attention was the fact that the song used AI voices of Tupac and Snoop Dogg, Tupac, who has been deceased since 1996. This was met with obvious backlash from fans, and even a statement from Tupac’s estate, claiming they were very displeased with the use of the musician’s voice, and threatened legal action against Drake. Drake made a few statements towards Kendrick, none of which make much sense to me, such as saying he did not respond to “Push Ups” because he did not want it to stop Taylor Swift’s new album “Tortured Poets Department” according to from topping the charts, which like, is really stupid, because Taylor is like one of the most famous people on the planet right now, according to Soundkick.com. He also gave Kendrick some backlash for collabing with Tay Swift in the first place, which at that point I feel like if Kendrick took a bite out of a sandwich Drake would come out of the woodworks and tweet something like “Kendrick be eatin’ his sandwiches sideways. Disgusting.”
On April 26, 2024, Drake would remove “Taylor Made Freestyle” from platforms, but as with “7 Minute Drill” reuploads exist. On April 30, Kendrick released the track, “Euphoria”, which is named after a show Drake is a producer for. In the song, he exudes pure hatred towards Drake and includes some bars calling him a poor father, and claiming that his physique is fake. On May 3, Kendrick released another diss via his Instagram titled “6:16 in LA,” which is believed to be a reference to many of Drake’s songs, which use times and dates, such as “8 AM in Charlotte.” It also seemed to be a reference to OJ Simpson, with the name of the song being the date of his trial, and a glove being featured on the cover. On the same day, Drake would release a song called “Family Matters” which implicates Kendrick as an abuser, and that his son was actually the son of his producer. Just twenty minutes later, Kendrick released a diss on Drake titled “Meet the Grahams.” In this track, Kendrick once again does not hold back against Drake, apologizing to his son, Adonis, for Drake being his father, and implying he is hiding a secret daughter, and that Drake may be interested in certain girls
Following this, on May 4, 2024, Kendrick released “Not Like Us,” Kendrick furthered his claims against Drake, including bars that throw shade on some allegations made against Drake. The songs contain many such bars of this nature, with the cover for the track being a photo of Drake’s home with many icons for the offender locator being over it. The next day, Drake releases “The Heart Part 6,” which, according to Variety.com, tries to disprove the allegations made against him, but honestly, in my opinion, kind of implicates him even more, because he mentions specifically him never having interacted with actress Millie Bobbie Brown, who was KNOWN to be around Drake a lot, but like? No one mentioned her? That’s kiiiiinda weird, Aubrey Graham! This is the most recent of the beef to be released as of the writing and publishing of this article, and honestly, it’s kinda crazy, but also kinda funny. To most people whom I have witnessed on X.com (Formerly Twitter), many people, myself included, agree that Kendrick had absolutely been demolishing Drake, and that Drake’s songs are really not great in comparison. I do not think Drake is gonna come out on top on this one honestly.
