As the humidity sweltered Wednesday, night, May 23, the track at Kokomo High School was heating up, not just from the weather, but from the supersonic speed of Aftin Griffin. Coming off a dominant performance at the Sectional meet, Aftin went into Regionals with more to conquer. Aftin has had a historic track season, breaking the school record at the end of the season in the 800M.
Hit the gas or go home. As the sun was going down, Aftin was just gearing up. When the gun fired, she put it all on the line. As she crossed the finish line, history was made again, with Aftin running a 2:17 breaking her own record by two whole seconds finishing second! Her next battle, the Indiana State Finals, takes place on May 31 in Bloomington, at Indiana University.
Sophomore, Anna Hedrick finished 11th in the 200M dash and both Anna & Aftin were part of the 4×4 Regional team along with Faith Helvie and Brystalin Gillem. Aftin’s work ethic leads to her outstanding performances and shows she is the definition of a King. Good luck at State Aftin!
