On Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 5-7 at Upper Deer Creek Church, four Lewis Cass students sophomores Maddy Willis, Raegan Mundy, and myself along with freshman Brecken Smith led a worship night. Lilly Hammond also helped with the directing of it and Lauren Tocco opened in prayer. There were snacks and drinks before the service began.
First, sophomore Maddy Willis, at Lewis Cass, was asked about her experience at the worship night. When asked if she enjoyed singing with the group, Maddy stated, “ I really enjoyed singing with the group. We all got to bond and laugh together. It was an amazing experience and we got to have fellowship with each other and the people that attended.” Willis was also asked about her favorite part of the night. Maddy said, ¨ I was happy to see people come together and worship. It was so moving.¨ Maddy lastly said being able to help put it together and lead was amazing.
Next, a sophomore at Lewis Cass, Raegan Mundy, was asked what the hardest part of planning the worship night was and Mundy stated, “ I think it was trying to find a date that would work for everyone and then also finding days to practice since everyone has busy schedules.” When asked if she enjoyed leading in worship and learning all the songs on the piano. Raegan said she enjoyed leading and she felt it was a good way to bring the people of the community together and grow closer to God at the same time. She also said she loved getting to learn songs on the piano because she loves to play it, and that it was just so enjoyable to learn a bunch of songs.
Lillian Hammond, a sophomore at Lewis Cass, was asked what it was like operating the technology for the event. Lilly stated, ¨ I really liked helping with the technology. I have always had a knack for that kind of stuff but this was the first time I really got to put it to use. I am glad I could use the gifts God gave me for good.¨ Lilly described being a part of the event as amazing to be a part of such a wonderful event. She was so glad that we have students in our community who are passionate and bold in their faith. She says things like this will only make us stronger. Finally, Hammond was asked if she liked doing the closing prayer. Lilly said she enjoyed doing the closing prayer stating, ¨ Sometimes I can just feel so far from God until I simply just start talking to him and the words just flow. It was a little scary doing it in front of so many people but I have to just remember that it is just me and him.¨
Lastly, sophomore, Adalyn Brown was asked if she enjoyed coming to the worship night, and she said, ¨ Yes! I loved going to the worship night because I was able to get with some people of our community and just praise and glorify God.¨ Brown was also asked what her favorite song was. Adalyn just said that she did not really remember the songs we sang, but she loved them all. She said she liked the song we started clapping to because we were getting more, ¨ in the groove¨ and worshiping the Lord.
Everyone who attended had a great time at the student-led worship night. Whether it was the leaders or the people who came to have fellowship, they all enjoyed the time they got to worship God together.
