There are many things to do during the fall season in Indiana. From haunted houses and haunted hay rides to corn mazes and pumpkin patches for people to visit and experience. All over the state, there are many things for people to do with friends and family to enjoy the season. Some of the Kings’ Cast members traveled to West Lafayette and Greentown to try some fall festival fun!
Located in West Lafayette, Indiana is the largest corn maze in the state, Exploration Acres. According to the Exploration Acres official website, the maze is on twenty acres of land itself, not including the rest of the facility, with ten miles worth of paths, and has four mazes that make up the whole. Each year the Exploration Acres has a different theme for the maze. This year the theme was medieval times, and each maze had a distinct design. The first maze you move through is a princess, the second is a dragon, the third is a knight with a castle in the background, and there are crossing swords in front of a shield. There are twenty-eight rewards you can get if you complete the maze, the rewards include discounts off of stores, restaurants, or entertainment activities. The maze is open from September 13- October 26. Admission for children five and under get in free, children six to thirteen cost $11, and adults fourteen and up cost $15.
Outside of the maze, there are many other activities people can undertake. There are two pumpkin patches one on an eleven-acre field and the other one on two acres. There are many food trucks in the vicinity as well. There are many little shops and boutiques set up around the facility. There are numerous activities to take on additionally, like corn husk shooting, barrel racing, a corn pit (like a ball pit), and a giant slide for kids to go down. Along with these activities, there are also laser tag and pedal cart races. There are plenty more activities to do, so nobody gets bored. There are also campsites, so people can set up and camp there.
This past weekend, Kings’ Cast members Kylie Logan had the opportunity to visit Exploration Acres. It was Disney night at the maze that evening, so Mickey and his friends were also at the maze. Unfortunately, none of us finished the maze, but we did get a good experience from it.
Located in Greentown, the heart of rural central Indiana, Kendall Family Farms is going strong into its seventh year of business. The Kendall family has put in hours of hard work and dedication to keep this family business strong while learning more and more about the agritourism business in order to provide the best experience possible for their visitors.
This family-owned business has many different activities to offer to its customers. According to KendallFamilyFarm.com, the corn maze should take a person about 45 minutes from start to finish. They also have things like hayrides, a pumpkin patch, mini golf, a pedal kart track, live animals, a gift shop, and concessions. The owners like to put an emphasis on family-friendly. They want families with young children to be able to come here and feel comfortable in the atmosphere. The Kendall family creates a safe environment for kids to run and have a blast while still being monitored in close range.
One may be wondering, what an admission fee to get into all of these events costs. Adults (13+) are $10.00, children six-twelve, and senior citizens (65+) are $5.00. And lastly, for children five and under the cost is free with an adult admission. Groups of fifteen adult tickets or more want to enter together to get a group rate. Group rates cost only $8.00 for each adult and $4.00 for each child/senior.
When visiting Kendall Family Farm, the outcome is exactly what is expected. The service is great and everyone is exceedingly friendly. The activities provide enjoyable entertainment for children of any age, but people of older ages will likely enjoy the maze more than anything which is equally challenging as it is thrilling.
When comparing these two fall activities there is no clear winner. Exploration Acres may have more festivities, while Kendall Family Farm might have better food options but all in all, this can show that different types of fall fun can provide similar experiences. Families are able to come together and make memories to last a lifetime while participating in a welcoming and interactive location with its visitors. If people are looking for something to do on a perfect fall day, there is no better way to spend it than at Exploration Acres or Kendall Family Farm.
