Christmas time comes with stressful times, but this time can also come with lots of joy! There are many places to do activities, and most importantly look at the Christmas lights. Sophomore, Brookelynn Biddle and I went to two different Christmas light sites, which were Christmas In the Park (Logansport, Indiana), and Lights In the Airpark (Miami County, Indiana). We did a comparison between the two, but most importantly, had a lot of fun!
First, we went to Christmas In the Park in Logansport, Indiana at Spencer Park. Throughout the park, there were many different Christmas lights all around. Trees were decorated with lights and ornaments as well. We saw many light-up snowflakes, scenes from the bible, and skiers, and towards the end, there were Christmas lights with Cass County schools, including Lewis Cass, as well as a light-up tunnel! I thought this location had very interesting and creative lights. It was very entertaining to go through and admire all of them. They even provided a radio station, The River 102.3, to listen to Christmas music while looking at the lights. Lewis Cass sophomore, Brookelynn Biddle was asked what she thought about the Christmas lights at this site. Her response was, “I loved the park. The lights leading to the end were super pretty. All the colors and different lighting mixed so well together. The decorated trees and the Santa that was waving were probably my favorite parts of the whole thing! I loved everything about it.”
The last location we went to see was Lights In the Airpark in Miami County, Indiana. This site was very interesting because we got to see Christmas Lights and also look at things from the museum. There were not as many different lights, but they were all still fascinating in many ways. There were many lights with planes and pilots, as well as lights around an Air Force plane that is a part of the museum. Brookelynn Biddle said, “The lights in the air park were very mesmerizing. They had such a big effect on me. I loved seeing the different looks of this site and how much these types of sites can have an impact on people with lights like that. It was definitely by far one of the coolest light areas I’ve been to this year.”
Cass County Online said, “The lights in Spencer Park in Logansport are on from dusk to dawn November 27 through January 5. Patrons must enter from the High Street from dusk-dawn. Walk-through visitors are on Monday & Tuesday nights. Drive-thru-only visitors are on Wednesdays and Sundays. Free-will donations are accepted. The Grissom Air Museum hosts their walk-through winter event in the airpark. Enjoy the lights and celebrate the holiday on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 – January 5, 2025. The event is closed on Nov. 28, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. It is open Thursday-Sundays only from 4:30-9 p.m. Admission at Lights in the Airport is $9 for adults and children, ages 6-11 are $8 with kids five and under are free. Visitors can check out the indoor Grissom Air Museum and Lights in the Airpark for one great price. There are also free take-home crafts for kids.” This is all the information for both Christmas light sites.
Overall, both Christmas light sites had super fascinating lights to see all around. My favorite site to see was Christmas In the Park. This was my favorite because I felt that there were different types of lights to see, and not just all the same type of theme. While driving through, everything was lit up, and everything was bright. I also enjoyed getting to see the lights of all the Cass County schools, because this is the first year that they put those all up. Lights In the Air Park were still fascinating to me, though. Brookelynn and I enjoyed getting to feel the Christmas cheer during our time at each Christmas light site! Brookelynn’s favorite site was Lights in the Air Park. “I think my favorite site was the Lights in the Air Park. The experience was like no other and definitely something that I would recommend to a lot of people during the Holidays. I hope that they continue doing this throughout the years and get better each year because these lights are beautiful. Both areas were a very fun experience for Alyiah and me, but I just enjoyed the Lights in the Air Park a little more.”
If you have any free time, take a trip to both of these sites to have a great time and enjoy the Holidays! It does not cost too much, and it helps support these sites, so they can get better every year!
