Snow is falling, icicles are forming, and children are outside. Winter season calls for fun winter activities! There are so many things to do during the winter. Today.com’s, Kait Hanson said, “For parents, winter’s colder temperatures often leave them desperately searching for winter activities for kids to deal with cabin fever.” According to Laura Linn Knight, author of “Break Free from Reactive Parenting,” the best winter activities for kids vary by location and climate. (For example), I live in Arizona with my two children, so our winter activities are jam-packed with things we couldn’t do during the heat of the summer,” Knight tells TODAY.com. She adds people who live in colder parts of the country enjoy a different set of winter pastimes that require warm jackets.
Personally, I love winter and all of the activities like making snow cones, going sledding, coloring in the snow, making snowmen, and having snowball fights with my siblings. According to Today.com, some other ideas could be bundling up and going for a walk, building a snowman, making snow angels, having an outdoor picnic, making frozen bubbles, making a snow igloo, and building a fire and roasting s’mores. All of these activities are fun if you just want to be outside and stay at home, or close to home.
Other types of winter activities could be inside places as well. Kokomo has many places full of fun during the winter. Kokomopost.com’s Bree Bragg said, “It’s that time of year when all of the major holidays have passed and the winter slump kicks in. Are you looking for ways to entertain your family this winter? Here’s your guide to fun, interactive, and creative activities to enjoy within and around Kokomo!” One fun activity is Gravity Trampoline Park. Bree Bragg said, “Gravity is king when it comes to indoor entertainment in Kokomo! While it may be the most obvious of recommendations when it comes to indoor activities for kids (and adults), it would be a crime if we didn’t place Gravity at the very top of our list!” Another indoor activity is the Cat Cafe. Bree Bragg said, “If you’re a lover of cats and coffee then this is the spot for you! Inside of the Kokomo Humane Society is the Cat Cafe. You’re invited to sip on a tasty beverage while visiting the cat colony. It’s the prrr-fect opportunity to love on some adoptable felines.” One last indoor activity is the Fired Arts Studio. Bree Bragg said, “Get creative at Fired Arts Studio. The paint-your-own pottery studio offers a wide variety of ceramics to choose from that you can paint and decorate. They also offer guided classes as well as different workshops if you’re looking to expand your artistic abilities.” All of these activities are fun and simple when you are bored at home and you want to do something.
Overall, winter can keep some people inside, but it is always good to spend some time outside in the snow, or go out and do something in a public place.
