Over the decades, television has evolved from black and white to blast in full color. From the increased budget to the size of the TV, and the modern-day special effects, there have been many shows that have been popular from the day they came out to the present day. With the overwhelming library of content growing more and more everyday it can be difficult choosing the next show to watch. To narrow down the options I searched for the most popular streams. The streams have dominated the screen and captivated audiences worldwide with great storylines, fascinating characters, and overall production quality.
As reported by the Flix Patrol’s official website, each streaming website has a different list of the top five most popular shows. For Netflix, the top five are: American Murder Gabby Petito which is a tragic true crime story about what happened to Gabby Petito on her final days. The next show is Cassandra about a family who moves into a tech-savvy home that will do anything to make them stay there. Coming in third is The Åre Murders which is a Sweden show about Viveca Sten’s first two books. Number four is The Night Agent is about an FBI agent and cybersecurity expert who reveals an ever-growing web of political conspiracies. Lastly, Love is Blind is a reality television show where two people (who do not know each other) sit on different sides of a wall getting to know each other then once time is over they get to see each other.
For the streaming app HBO Max, Flix Patrol had the top five being: The White Lotus which is about various guests and employees at a tropical resort start to see each person one by one disappear and the darkness of the picture-perfect resort starts to emerge. Next is The Pitt about the staff at the Pittsburgh Trauma Center who work around the clock to try and save people’s lives. Followed by The Pitt is The Fall of Diddy which pulls back the certain of the allegations of violence and abuse that was kept quiet for years. Fourth is Scars of Beauty about a young orphan woman and her new family come together seeking revenge on those responsible for their personal tragedies. Lastly is Common Side Effects about former high school lab partners who come together to reveal a blue mushroom that may hold the key to curing all the diseases in the world.
Flix Patrol also had the top five for other streaming platforms as well. The top five for Disney+ are Paradise, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, High Potential, and The Simpsons. For Prime Video the top five were The Beast Games, Invincible, Reacher, The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power, and Maxton Hall- The World Between Us. Paramount’s top five were South Park, Yellowstone, Tulsa King, Spongebob Squarepants, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Lastly, the top five for Apple are Severance, Prime Target, Silo, Ted Lasso, and Mythic Quest.
Over my lifetime, I have watched many shows on many different streaming platforms. A list of my top five shows would be: number one Bridgerton which is on Netflix and is also a book series. Bridgerton is set in the regency era of London, which follows the very popular and wealthy Bridgerton family and their love lives. The second would be The 100 which is also on Netflix. The 100 is about a society that lives in space and sends one hundred prisoners down to see if the Earth is liveable again after the radiation from a nuclear war. Third would be Maxton Hall which is about two teenagers, one who is rich and the other who is not and go to the same school. They go from enemies to lovers. Fourth I would put Stranger Things about a young boy who mysteriously goes missing one night and his group of friends try to find him, while doing so they discover a secret government lab, a girl with telekinesis powers, and a parallel dimension called the Upside Down. Lastly, for my top five list, I would put Riverdale about a group of high school students who unveiled the dark secrets and mysteries of their town.
Overall, everybody has their own taste in television shows they like. Whether it is a true crime series, or a comedy adventure show, everyone can find shows that amuse them on many different streams. Next time you watch a show, maybe think about what your top five are.
