This year, the Indianapolis Colts have an outstanding start to their 2025-2026 season with a record of 6-1. The past years have not looked very pleasant, with records of 9-8 in 2023, 4-12 in 2022, and 9-8 in 2021. This year, however, was a time for change. The Colts have many important players on offense who have made a huge impact and have all helped lead the team to this new success.
These players include current quarterback Daniel (Indiana) Jones, running back Jonathon Taylor, and former Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. According to the Colts website, head coach, Shane Steichen says that he feels confident in quarterback Jones’ abilities. Good thing Steichen made that decision (to start) because it has obviously had a fantastic outcome for the team! Jonathan Taylor has been a star player for the Colts this season, as usual. In the game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Taylor had his third three-touchdown performance of the season. According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, “Taylor is currently the NFL’s leading rusher, and this season, he will pass Lenny Moore and Edrin James for most rushing touchdowns in Colts franchise history.” Although this is Tyler Warren’s first year in the NFL and here with the Colts, Warren has been a massive part of the team. Stephen Holder continued,¨Warren leads the NFL in receiving yards for a tight end and has many different roles for the Colts, not just receiving passes.¨
Yes, offense is a big part of football, but do not forget about the defense. Two significant elements in the Colts’ defense are defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, linebacker Zaire Franklin, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart. Buckner has had multiple quarterback sacks every game, and Franklin has also had numerous sacks. Stewart had a big interception in their game against the Los Angeles Chargers that guided the team to victory, according to the Colts website.
Although all of these players have helped the team this year, there are multiple players who have not been a part of the group because they are out of the season due to injuries. These players include Anthony Richardson, Charvarius Ward, and many more. Backup quarterback Richardson is out with a fractured orbital bone he acquired during pregame warmups with an elastic band and will miss a minimum of four games. On the other hand, Ward also suffered a concussion during pregame warmup and is expected to miss the next four games as well, ruling him out through Week 10. Let’s hope for the best for our Colts players, and hopefully, they are on the mend soon.
In conclusion, the Indianapolis Colts are off to a great start to their season. All the practices and hard work the Colts have put into what they do have paid off. The Colts will play their next game against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium at 4:25 pm on October 26. Support your Colts! Maybe they can pull out another win to add to their record. Who will win, the almost undefeated Colts team or the almost completely defeated Titans?
