Dull’s Tree Farm & Pumpkin Patch, located in Thorntown, IN, has always been one of my favorite places to visit in the fall. Whether it’s navigating through the giant corn maze or hopping on a tractor drive to pick out the perfect pumpkin, there is never a dull moment. Dull’s Tree Farm has over 45 activities for all ages to enjoy, making it a fun place to visit with your family or friends.
There are a variety of food trucks and food locations to choose from, including the Sugar Shack, Feed Bunk, The Grill, and Pretzel Cabin. All provide a variety of foods, so anyone in the mood for some slushies or donuts could visit the Sugar Shack, while those who prefer hamburgers or hot dogs could head over to The Grill. My personal favorite was the apple cider donut from the Sugar Shack with the apple cider slushie.
The most popular activities are the corn maze, pumpkin patch, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and the tractor drives. The staff working at the corn maze guides visitors into the smaller or larger corn mazes. Usually, younger children head into the smaller maze because it includes a storybook that helps kids find their way out of the maze, and it only takes around fifteen minutes to complete. Older kids and adults usually enter the larger maze, since it is more challenging and takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Junior, Alyiah Reynoso, was asked what activity she enjoyed the most at the farm, and she responded, “I enjoyed the pumpkin decorating because I got to be creative, and that is one of my best skills.” Pumpkin decorating is another fun activity where people can use their imaginations and make a pumpkin with all sorts of silly crafts.
The tractor rides take visitors to the pumpkin patch, where friends and families can all pick out pumpkins of their choice. The farm has small and large pumpkins, and even different colored pumpkins to choose from. My family and I especially enjoyed going on the tractor and walking around picking pumpkins. It gave us an opportunity to spend quality time with each other.
Dull’s offers a pumpkin cannon show for visitors to enjoy at designated times throughout the day. According to DullsTreeFarm.com show times on Saturdays are 11:30, 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30, while Sunday show times are 1:30, 3:30, and 5:30. Since Dull’s gets less business on Thursday and Fridays, only show times are 3:30 and 5:30. The pumpkin cannon show consists of experienced people who will shoot huge pumpkins at cars and other targets, making it a big attraction for visitors to see.
Every year, Dull’s Tree Farm celebrates with a fireworks night. Visitors can enjoy fireworks for another successful year of the Dull’s Tree Farm and Pumpkin Patch opening. Dull’s Tree Farm and Pumpkin Patch is a great place to visit and take family or friends to. When asked if she would recommend this pumpkin patch to other people, Alyiah said, “I would most definitely recommend this pumpkin patch to others because there are so many fun things to do there, and the food is very delicious. Overall, the atmosphere is great, filled with lots of joy!” Dull’s variety of food places and activities is incredible, and I will definitely be carrying on this fall tradition next year.
