NBA All-Star weekend is here!

De’Aaron Fox my pick to win the Skills Challenge

Do you ever just have a weekend every year you look forward to before the year even starts? That weekend for me is All-Star weekend in the NBA where players show their dunking, shooting, and passing ability in front of fellow NBA players, the crowd and even the people at home watching the game. Each year players do crazy dunks that have never, seen before. They are also making amazing shots and beating the skill challenges in record time. Another thing that makes the event even better is that the all star teams are picked between the vote leader in the west and the vote leader in the east so that adds some more fun. With those picks these players play in the real all star game. The two captains this year are Los Angeles Lakers small forward Lebron James and Milwaukee Bucks small forward and my favorite player Giannis Antetokounmpo.

I will start with the skills challenge and my prediction for who will win it. The skills challenge is about how accurate you are at passing, your speed and your ability at making the three pointer. The participants this year are Mike Conley, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Kyle Kuzma, Jayson Tatum, Nikola Vucevic, Trae Young, and my pick from the Sacramento Kings De’Aaron Fox.  Fox is a quick athletic point guard that can get up and down the court easily. He is also a good passer, and average three pointer shooter. So in my opinion he is the favorite to win.

The three point contest is incredible. The contest is shooting threes for one minute and the highest score wins. The contest is filled with sharpshooters that can really shoot it. So each year we never knows who going to win. The people in the contest this year are Steph Curry, Seth Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, Kemba Walker, Danny Green, Joe Harris, and Devin Booker. All ten of these guys all have a great chance of winning. My pick is Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker, He is a skilled shooter with a clean shot form. I believe he will win this years contest.

Now the main performance of Saturday night for most people is the dunk contest. The dunk contest is always my favorite because players usually try new dunks that nobody  has ever seen before. Like Vince Carter did in 2000 or Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon did in 2016. The contest is pretty simple there are four contestants in the contest all trying to get the highest score dunks from the judges. The high fliers this year are Dennis Smith Jr, Miles Bridges, Hamidou Diallo, and John Collins. All four of these guys can jump out of the building and do some crazy dunks, but one person sticks out the most to me. That person is Miles Bridges;  Bridges is a super athletic guy that has intense jumping ability and a lot of power when dunking the ball. So he is my guy to win it.

The All Star game is the reason for all these events. This will be a great weekend of fun for all of us watching the best players in the world doing what they love to do. This year game will be great. Both teams have great shooters, dunkers, ball handlers, and many more things. You can watch all these events on the TNT channel. The All-Star game starts at 8:00 pm on Sunday.
